Debbie and Calluna,
Thank you for the information about nucynta. I think I may try this again, now that I know that I was so undermedicated when I had it prescribed for me back in January. I was prescribed 75 mg twice a day, which sounds like it is a lot less than I could have taken, no wonder it did not work at all.
Debbie, I live in Alabama too, I am wondering if we have the same pain doctor? Did he give you a total of 75mg per day?? Or was it several times a day?
He gave a friend of mine 100mg X 4 per day, this dose did help her some.
Thank you for the information from your pain clinic, Calluna. I plan to study this and take a copy with me at my appt this week.

Hello again JeanieC
I had not realised that you were on Nucynta as well. If my surgery is not successful, I shall ask if I can try this med - it is called Palexia over here. I do wonder sometimes why doctors prescribe doses so different from what the manufacturer suggests....!
There is a lot of useful information on the pain clinic website actually, there are links all over the place. I found it helpful myself and I'm glad you did too.

Re: Chairs
I know this is an old thread but was wondering for those of you who take Nucynta what dosage you find helps your PN pain? My doctor prescribed 50 mg twice a day, but so far it makes me dizzy and doesn't do anything hardly for the pain. It seems like a low dose, but if I'm dizzy on this I doubt I'll be able to tolerate more. Did it take a while to build up in your system to start working or did you have to get to a higher dose first? It takes about an hour to kick in and doesn't seem to last very long either like 3 hours and the little effect that I got is gone. Doesn't seem worth it!

Re: Chairs
Hi Faith,
I've been on Nucynta for several months now, and I agree that it is not worth much. I have taken Nucynta ER and the
immediate release both. The 100mg ER seems to do nothing at all, and the 100mg IR does help if the pain is moderate, but for severe pain it is no help. I am now in the process of weaning myself off of it. I would like to go back on Neurontin and try working up to a high dose like you take as I stopped at 1800mg the only time I was on this drug. How much does Neurontin actually help your pain?

Re: Chairs
Well, before I had botox (which was the biggest mistake ever) 2400mg Neurontin helped keep my pain at a "tolerable" 4-6 as long as I didn't do anything to aggrevate it (sitting, sex, jeans, etc). Now it just doesn't seem to do anything! Ok, well it may bring my pain level down from an 8 to a 7! My pain levels are consistently higher and constantly flaring (and I do way less now than I did pre-botox!). Doctors tell me I can still go up on the Neurontin, but when I tried that before (before the botox about a year ago) it seemed to not improve my pain much....only cause a lot of dizziness. But I've been on 2400mg now for 14-15 months so I'm thinking maybe I have just built up a tolerance? The Nucynta helps a little with muscle pain, but doesn't help me be able to sit or with the horrible burning pain. I am thinking about trying to increase the Neurontin again. I have tried just about everything out there so I am starting to think I may just have to live with the pain unless I want to be on strong narcotics and suffer the side effects. I would definitely give the Neurontin another go though if I were you. It has been the best drug for me and I really have very few side effects (mostly cognitive related). Just be sure to go up on the dosage really slowly.JeanieC wrote:How much does Neurontin actually help your pain?
