I guess I should have saw that coming. Mom! Stop nagging me!!!

But as mothers most often are, you are right. It is frustrating though to think about being on crutches for another 5 1/2 weeks. But I guess the little remaining cartilage he was able to work with must still be fragile.

Karyn, I don't know how long he wants me to wait til the next surgery. 4 to 6 months for a full recovery from this one so I guess it could be any time after that. As for the grace period with pain i'm not sure how that works. I've been off of the pain meds for a day now but we'll see.
Scrotal pain and tingling started in 1999. Soreness after ejaculation. Occasional numbness in Scrotum. Some urinary frequency. Symptoms disappeared for 3 years in 07 and came back in 2010. Tingling and tickling in penis 2011. Pain in buttocks with sitting started in July of 2012. Not much success with PT. Tried the usual meds with some success, but didn't like the side effects. Dr. Potter MRI revealed pelvic floor varices. Both hips opperated on in 2013 for FAI. Some help with supplements.

Hahaha no I will not stop nagging! Your "honeymoon" period will last about a week, max. BTW my bilateral hip surgeries were three months apart. That way I rehabbed them both at the same time. If I were you, I would not schedule your other surgery any closer than that, but you certainly don't have to wait for a full recovery from the first.

Probable cause: 3 difficult labors, 5 pelvic surgeries for endometriosis, and undiagnosed hip injuries. 60% better after 3 rounds of shockwave therapy in Cornwall, Ontario (Dec - Feb/12). 99% better after bilateral hip scopes for FAI and labral tears (April and July/12). Thats ok, I feel the love in your nagging.

I just came back from my follow up appointment and he explained to me the reasoning behind staying on the crutches for the full 6 weeks. He said he won't do physical therapy because he feels it exacerbates the symptoms. That being said he will have me do stuff on my own like riding a stationary bike. I didn't realize how integral he was in the world of hip surgery. Sounds like he is at the forefront of lots of the new stuff being done for hips. He also said he knows Dr. Potter very well as they worked together when he was doing his residency. Not surprisingly he speaks very highly of her and her work.

I was hoping to take a month or two off between surgeries but he said because of the condition my left hip was in that I really need to get the right one done as soon as possible. Oh well. At least I'll be able to enjoy my front porch in the spring and summer months while on crutches.

How are things going with you Lernica? Any setbacks or still doing well? Still doing well I hope.

Love to hear such positive posts Elmwood. Sorry if that sounds like I want you to have this added surgery. . . .that's not my meaning ;)
Just finding someone like your hip specialist who sounds great and certainly is looking after your best interests. . . .although a note of caution re stationary biking, extreme caution I would suggest.
feel the love :)

Glad to hear your post-op went well, Elmwood! I'm a bit surprised about his PT protocol and it sounds like he truly does have your best interest at heart.

Agreed. Have you been using this, Lernica?

No stationary bike for me, no sirree. I did these home PT exercises for post-scope patients: http://damiangriffin.org/rehab/stage1/4point.htm

My hip(s) are feeling better and better every day, with the inevitable ups and downs as with any post-surgical period. The perineum pain too. Sitting is also getting much better. Will be attempting a return to work in March (part-time at first) for the first time in two years!

OMG! Hoooraaaaay! :D Will you be going back to your former employer, or a new job?
Lernica, What still hurts you, when you sit? It it the hips & perineum, only?

Sitting still produces an ache in the left buttock, close to the rectum. But I think this is hip-joint related, not PN. Many people on Hip Chicks complain about sitting pain, both before and after surgery. The unrelenting knife-like stabbing in the perineum/rectum is gone. Since my hips are stronger I can stand for longer and I still have a stand-sit station in my office. It's my old job, kept open for me by my (public sector) employer, bless its soul.

I'll start at two hours daily and hopefully work my way up to six hours per day (80%) which is the amount I was working since my pain journey began about ten years ago. But if I can't work beyond two hours we will have to re-evaluate the situation since I may not be any use to my employer at that amount.
