It might be a weird question, but what sort of specialist do I contact for this? I don't think a normal physical therapist does work on the rectum, or am I wrong in thinking this?
Right, it would take a PT who specializes in treating chronic pelvic pain.
PNE since 2002. Started from weightlifting. PNE surgery from Dr. Bautrant, Oct 2004. Pain now is usually a 0 and I can sit for hours on certain chairs. No longer take medication for PNE. Can work full time and do "The Firm" exercise program. 99% cured from PGAD. PNE surgery was right for me but it might not be for you. Do your research.

I just had my appointment, and it was a positive experience. I explained my problems in detail, and talked about my current pain. She is an expert in the pelvic floor, and she explained to me how the muscles work, and what could cause pain. I told her I made an appointment because I got advice on this website, and she actually was familiar with it. We did a few tests, and she had a few ideas about what is going on with me, and she doesn't think it's nerve related; she thinks it has to do with the muscles being tight and not working properly. She told me my muscles are very tense, and my breathing is not good because I hold tension in the muscles and they never release. The relaxation by breathing slowly and focusing on releasing the tension that I explained in my opening post, is probably a direction of where my treatment has to go first. She did some tests and she noticed I can breathe the right way on command, but I can't hold it and keep things tightened up in my “relaxed mode”, not only in the pelvic flour, but also in the abdominal region. She said my pain could also be caused by other things like triggerpoints or muscle issues, but she first wants to try to get me breathing right to see how that works out. I got some instructions and a daily routine on controlling the breath, and on my next appointment in 3 weeks she will do an inspection of the rectum and the muscles inside. I'll keep posting my progress here, and I hope this is the first step in the direction of a cure.
