While some people do take 8 weeks to recover from surgery based on their job descriptions, many Houston patients do go back as soon as 6 weeks which I have verified with Houston patients that I personally know. Others choose to go back part time at first.

Houston has a really good track record with their incisions healing well, no hematomas or infections, and no need for a wound vacuum. Technique of the surgeon may definitely be a factor; Dr. Ansell has a lot of experience and a great surgical record. Houston post op instructions have people up and walking quickly, not immobilized, and patients are in fact told to get exercise every day in the form of walking and to let the pain be their guide.

A lot depends on what the person was capable of going into surgery; if the person had quit work and was lying down all day, then it's not realistic to think they could regain their strength as fast as some who had been able to keep going. Also if the person had a lot of other medical problems, recovery might be longer and it's not correct to lump them together and call it all a result of the surgery. For the person who only has PNE pain symptoms, recovery from surgery is generally fast.
