Hi Ray, It's been a couple of years since I've looked at articles on the anorectal angle. I've only seen MRI studies that look at that but I will take a look and see what new studies have been done. The first PT I saw had me lean forward and had these breathing techniques that I did as I leaned forward then back again. Reminded me of the breathing you learn for labor . For me, maybe the squatty potty gets me at a different angle than what I can get from just leaning forward. My pelvic floor and anus are like a vice grip and maybe that plays a part in why leaning forward just doesn't totally cut it for me. All I know is that is helps me and sometimes that is all that matters.
