You might try Amy Stein's Healing Pelvic Pain book sold on Amazon -- or Dr. Wise's book A Headache in the Pelvis. These might be helpful if your problem is strictly due to muscle tension but maybe not if you have a nerve entrapment.

Not all types of pelvic floor PT are the same -- some are for people who have weak pelvic floor muscles that need strengthening but with PN patients, typically the pelvic floor is overly contracted and strengthening exercises tend to make you worse. So if you could get some PT from someone specifically trained in treating PN maybe they could show you some things that you could do at home. But I understand the insurance problem. If you could get a different diagnosis code now that your pain is changed, maybe they would pay again?

yes thank u i have the book & do some of the stretches i cant do them as much as she says i dont have time 2 stretch 2 hrs a day but i do them once a day b4 i walk with my daughter ,my problem with pt is like u already know my pain is very deep in vagina it feels like 8 inches deep and is a burning sharp stabbing pain ,plus always feeling like i have 2 pee ,because pt therapist recommend not going deeper than a finger ,it frustrates me cuz they never go near where the pain is and my ob dosent want me to try more pt but i will tell her it helpd my genital pain a lil bit but since my symptoms have changed it may benefit me to do with someone who is trained i just dont know if i can do this or not though id like to hear about anyone who has done pt with someone trained in pn & what did they do ?

Eva,

So is your internal pain on one side or the other -- or is it in the middle (towards front or back)?

I didn't know painful sex was one of the criteria for PNE. I guess as my PNE progressed it became painful but it wasn't at the beginning so personally I would not consider it a "make or break" symptom in the diagnosis.

For PT I had myofascial release and trigger point therapy but I think the most important thing I got out of PT was a proper diagnosis. In the end it didn't help and I went for surgery.

I had finger trigger point -- not injections. It didn't help though. Myofascial release is when they work on the internal muscles to get the knots out with their finger. That made me worse so I discontinued it.

It's common for pain to move around with PN and also as it progresses it can change over time. There are mild forms of PN and more severe.
