Permant nerve damage?

Post by Chog »

Hi guys, sorry if this isn’t the correct place to post this, I’m new to the forum and wanted some input from the members as I’m not really sure how to move forward with my situation.

As of a month ago I had a normal functioning penis and I stupidly thought it would be fun to go get a series of p shots done just to improve things and make it more fun. If you don’t know what a photo is, it’s a round of prp injections into your penis that has the potential to improve blood flow, increase sensitivity, and possibly heal any damages done.

I got 4 injections into the shaft and two into the head. Immediately upon leaving the the facility I noticed my penis was shriveled up and hard to the touch. Erections were nearly impossible requiring a ton of stimulation and my sensitivity began decreasing daily until about day 7. At first I thought that I would heal fairly quickly but I’m now 30+ days out and have almost zero erogenous sensation in penis and it’s nearly numb. I can feel temperature and pinches on it but light touch or even heavy pressure is almost non existent. I no longer can get mental erections at all and can barely get an erection through heavy stimulation. I can no longer kegel my penis (feels as if it’s completely detached from my body). Most of the time it now exists in an overly spongy/soft flaccid and just hangs dead or will become rock hard while flaccid. During erections my corpus spongiosum has a large flat spot in the middle where it’s not filling. Also sperm just drips out now inside of forcefully coming out. I’m also getting weird night time erections that are really hard and last for a long time before going down. After I ejaculate my penis also takes roughly 5 minutes to not be erect anymore which is not normal.

Other concerning things I’ve noticed is my scrotum has almost no feeling now and the skin on it has become darker and thicker for some reason. I also don’t feel a full bladder sensation anymore. My urine stream is much weaker than normal. I only know I have to urinate because I can feel it in my penis if that makes sense.

I’m not experiencing any pain anywhere, just lack of sensation and total ED. I’m asking you guys on this forum if you think this is dorsal nerve damage, perineal nerve damage, somehow deeper damage to the pudendal nerve, or something else since not just my penis is affected. Will this most likely be permanent and who should I see concerning this. I’m worried the needles in the injections ruined my penis function forever.

Hi Chog,

Welcome to the forum. I can understand why you are concerned.

According to this article https://www.elsevier.com/resources/anat ... left/25231
the dorsal branch of the pudendal nerve is what innervates the penis. Since the injections were given directly into the penis, it seems most likely that the dorsal nerve is what is affected. I suppose it's possible what was injected traveled deeper in the body but it happened so quickly it makes sense that it affected the local nerves.

Have you spoken with the practitioner who gave the injections for any information on what might be going on and if any treatment is recommended?

I can't answer whether the damage is permanent and I'm not a doctor so I can't recommend any specific treatment but I can speak from my own experience. If you are looking for treatments that are healing but completely non-invasive and therefore low risk you could try a couple of things I did post PNE surgery in order to promote healing of the nerve. I did hyperbaric oxygen treatments because there is some literature that indicates that it promotes nerve healing. My insurance paid for half of it because of the articles/studies showing it can be effective for nerve healing.

I also did alternating hot/cold sitz baths because they increase blood flow to the region and help take away toxins so they can be very healing. I explain how it's done in this tread. viewtopic.php?t=5267
If you read the first post and then go to the 3rd page of the topic for updates on the links you can get an overview of how to do the treatments. I don't know if either of these treatments will help but might be worth a try. Just don't get the water too hot.

If there is nerve damage it could take months to heal because nerves heal slowly.

There might be medical treatments that could help but I can't think of what. Maybe oral steroids for possible inflammation? I would be leery of injected steroids possibly causing further damage.

I don't know if there is any merit in having imaging done since nerve damage often does not show up on imaging. It might show if scar tissue developed as a result of the procedure, but it happened so quickly that seems unlikely. But if you want to pursue all possibilities it might be wise to get some imaging done.

PNE since 2002. Started from weightlifting. PNE surgery from Dr. Bautrant, Oct 2004. Pain now is usually a 0 and I can sit for hours on certain chairs. No longer take medication for PNE. Can work full time and do "The Firm" exercise program. 99% cured from PGAD. PNE surgery was right for me but it might not be for you. Do your research.

Hello chog, I had these exact symptoms. I could no longer get erections only half decent one with heavy visual stimulation and physical, no more erogenous/ feel good sensation and urine dribble after urination. My urine stream was a bit smaller in diameter also my orgasm had much less power and sensation. My issue was pudendal nerve entrapment. I use decompression surgery over 2 years ago and recovery is very slow but it is happening still. Not sure if that is your problem but it sounds very similar to my case.

Thanks for the response violet. I’m really struggling with this mentally right now and so much so regret doing a procedure that didn’t need to be done just for the hell if it.

I’m probably being too optimistic but I’m hoping in some months things get better to the point that I’m functional even if it’s not 100%. I did go back into the clinic but they just told me they haven’t seen this before and to just let it heal and that I’ll be fine. They kind of just brushed me off and said there was nothing that they could do.

I haven’t been in a rush to see a urologist or anything because I know there is not much they could do either currently. I guess I’ve realized I’m either completely screwed or could heal naturally over time since I’m assuming it was direct nerve damage. I have no pain thankfully but the loss of sensation and function is really messing with me right now.

I’m sure there is definitely a possibility of scar tissue that has developed but it was pretty instant and once I’m fully erect there is no noticeable shape change or pain with it. I can still get myself off through some work and can still feel temp/pinches/some sensation so whatever happened I guess didn’t completely destroy the nerves. I’m just hoping there’s enough in tact to make a recovery.

I will down the road the possible get an emg and try to look into procedures that could maybe correct this if i don’t gain function back in like 6 months.

The only things that has me questioning things is the lack of of sensation on my scrotum since only my penis got the injections and the lack of full bladder feeling. That makes me worried that somehow something deeper somehow got affecting and I really don’t know how or why?

I appreciate the input. I really don’t think pudendal nerve entrapment is my problem at the current moment. I think I’m dealing with mainly nerve damage to my penis or slight deeper since it was injections into my penis that caused this. I was totally fine before this. Not totally ruling it out but I don’t think that’s the play for me currently.
