Post Surgery

Post by rightpath »

I recently had pudendal decompression surgery on my left side. My nerve was entrapped significantly by fibrosis tissue. After surgery, I was able to have all my symptoms relieved for 3 days. I was able to urinate with great flow and with no hesitancy.

Then the 4th day hit, and I started noticing penis spasms or shaking and my symptoms came back. Now one week later I’m in excruciating pain in my penis. Has anyone had this?

I’ve made sure to only walk around the house but my morning erections and pooping continue to aggravate the hell out of it. Is this normal? Should I be worried?

Your symptoms definitely sound disturbing, but I think it is too soon to be worried about the eventual outcome. It is not unusual to have increased pain after surgery. Nerves heal slowly and sometimes as the nerve wakes up you can have worsening of symptoms for a bit. This can happen soon after surgery or even during months 3 and 4 of recovery. I had increased pain soon after surgery and during months 3 and 4. I went off narcotics at 9 months post-op. The thing to worry about right now is getting some temporary pain relief. Will your physician prescribe any pain medication for you during the recovery?

I used a lot of heat and ice, including alternating hot and cold sitz baths to get through the recovery period. I don't know if you are allowed to do those yet but you can check with your surgeon to see. Another question for your surgeon is what they recommend to prevent scar tissue from forming.

PNE since 2002. Started from weightlifting. PNE surgery from Dr. Bautrant, Oct 2004. Pain now is usually a 0 and I can sit for hours on certain chairs. No longer take medication for PNE. Can work full time and do "The Firm" exercise program. 99% cured from PGAD. PNE surgery was right for me but it might not be for you. Do your research.

I think it's too soon to tell, post-surgery symptoms are usually as agressive as yours

The penis spasms and pain could be nerve irritation or inflammation. Have you talked to your doctor about this? They might be able to adjust your recovery plan. In the meantime, try to take it easy and avoid things that make it worse.
