So many tests, scans, exploratory surgery and medication trials... passed from pillar to post with a diagnosis of pudendal neuropathy that health professionals, although sympathetic, have to Google the first time they meet me. I'm worn out by the inability to sit and the pain being so much worse when I lie down or try to do any kind of physical activity. My post grad studies and plans for the future cower hopelessly below the insidious and relentless pendulum of pudendal nerve pain, that threatens to sever me from ever being able to work or study again.
Am heading down from Yorkshire to London tomorrow to the Sayer Clinic in hope that someone can help me. My life is so marred by chronic severe pain from the 'barking of the poodles' as i call it, that desperate times call for desperate measures. Is there life after pudendal nerve problems?
Life after pudendal nerve problems
Re: Life after pudendal nerve problems
Hi Samson,
So sorry to hear you are going through this and it sounds like it's an especially difficult time of your life when you are trying to complete your studies.
So, yes, there is life after pudendal nerve problems for many people. I have a great life since I went through the worst of PNE 20 years ago, and I know many people who have gotten better and moved on with their lives. But it's important to get the correct diagnosis so you can pursue the treatments that make the most sense for your situation. I wish you all the best with your trip and treatments.

PNE since 2002. Started from weightlifting. PNE surgery from Dr. Bautrant, Oct 2004. Pain now is usually a 0 and I can sit for hours on certain chairs. No longer take medication for PNE. Can work full time and do "The Firm" exercise program. 99% cured from PGAD. PNE surgery was right for me but it might not be for you. Do your research.
Re: Life after pudendal nerve problems
It really is debilitating, sadly don't have an answer since I'm still too 'early' into the journey and can't seem to get any kind of answers. How was your experience with Sayer Clinic? I hope they've been able to help.

Hi Samson,
Yes, as Violet said, there is life after (and even with) pn. I still have pn pain, but it is now low enough for me to manage. I work full-time in a busy job and have a happy life.
Take care,
April
