What do i do if mrn if doctors say mrn is clean?

Post by happyman »

i had a 3t mrn on my pelvis and the review from the doctors was that everything looked good. ive already said it before here but just as a reminder i have involuntary penile hypercontraction, stinging pains and dysthesia type symptoms. I dont think I am a classic case of PN at all and i recognize there are people here who probably have it much worse than me but i just want to know what do i even do at this point? could this be small fiber neuropathy? doctors ive seen so far just tell me to be calm and focus on other things, i even had one ask me if i go to church. what do i do?

Can't remember if you have consulted with a PN doctor yet -- or had lumbar or lumbosacral MRI -- were those normal? Those might be things to do if you haven't already.

MRI/MRN are not 100% accurate at determining if you have a problem with the pudendal nerve. It's important to have it done in case it shows anything obvious, but a normal MRI/MRN does not definitively rule out pudendal neuralgia or pudendal nerve entrapment.

Telling you to stay calm and focus on other things with your symptoms is like telling someone to just ignore it if they have boiling water poured on them. Sometimes I think doctors say things like that when they have no idea what to do. It's sad.

PNE since 2002. Started from weightlifting. PNE surgery from Dr. Bautrant, Oct 2004. Pain now is usually a 0 and I can sit for hours on certain chairs. No longer take medication for PNE. Can work full time and do "The Firm" exercise program. 99% cured from PGAD. PNE surgery was right for me but it might not be for you. Do your research.

Hey violet thanks for writing.

Yeah... honestly really strange that it didnt show anything. Sometimes I wonder if the doctors reading them even know what they are looking at! Lol

Ive just been a bit jaded at doctors and so thats why Ive been putting off seeing a PN doctor. Theyre kind of rare, and the name I saw on this forum in my area (forgetting his name) had some negative reviews and also was charging like a grand for consultation. I just wonder, even if I did see him, what treatment would he even offer? Im assuming itd either tell me to go to PT or give me a nerve block.

I hate myself for not getting Lumbar scans... I took xanax, got in the machine, and still couldnt do it. Claustrophobia is such a curse! I really need to muster the willpower to get those scans done. My fear is that I will muster that willpower all for them to come back clean...

I guess it depends on the PN doctor and what they find as to what treatments they would offer. Some of them offer telehealth consultations which might be appealing so you wouldn't have to travel. But, I can understand why you might not want to waste the time and money seeing a specialist. If your symptoms aren't severe and you can live a fairly normal life, you probably wouldn't want to risk some of the treatments offered anyway. But still, it can be disheartening not to be able to feel good.

Since you have dysthesia, I suppose it could be small fiber neuropathy but the involuntary penile hypercontraction -- I don't know if that would be consistent with small fiber neuropathy. That could be associated with an s-2 to s-4 abnormality but sounds like you haven't have an MRI of that area yet. Can they give you something stronger than xanax?
