Dear all,
I wrote an earlier post for some help but have another question.
I had surgery TWO years ago (myomectomy) and immediately since surgery (even just post-surgical walking around the neighborhood), walking has been EXCRUCIATING and also I am unable to lift items, even a grocery bag. It all hurts and usually hurts right at the area of surgery (I have ha 2 corrective surgeries btw).
Does painful walking and lifting of almost anything above 5 pounds mean something specifically (nerve? muscle? tears?). I don't know what happened in that first surgery to cause this issue but it has abolished any ability to have an active, healthy life. I cannot drive a stick shift anymore as I cannot put weight on my leg, etc.
Any thoughts would help or others who had a similar experience post surgically. I am especially curious as to what walking can do to disrupt a surgery in the pelvis? I wonder if the answer is there (ie does walking irritate something specifically?).
Thank you so much.
Tara
Since surgery PAINFUL WALKING and LIFTING
Re: Since surgery PAINFUL WALKING and LIFTING
Hi Tara,
Before my surgery for pudendal neuralgia, I had a very difficult time walking. I had a lot of burning medial to the sit bone where the leg and body meet. Dr. Bautrant said the perineal branch of the pudendal nerve was affected and I'm guessing walking flared it up because the nerve was rubbing on something -- possibly the falciform process of the sacrotuberous ligament where it attaches to the bone. I think one reason I am doing so well now is because Dr. Bautrant shaved off part of that ligament at the falciform process. I don't know if you have a nerve that is being irritated by rubbing on something when you walk or lift, but just based on my own experience, I think it is possible. Or...it could be stretching the nerve when you walk or lift if the nerve is encased in scar tissue from those surgeries. Hopefully you will be able to narrow it down to which nerve or nerves are involved.

PNE since 2002. Started from weightlifting. PNE surgery from Dr. Bautrant, Oct 2004. Pain now is usually a 0 and I can sit for hours on certain chairs. No longer take medication for PNE. Can work full time and do "The Firm" exercise program. 99% cured from PGAD. PNE surgery was right for me but it might not be for you. Do your research.
