Rolfing

Post by kathyd »

hi everyone,
I have not been online much recently but you may remember me. I have severe anal rectal pain and some bowel an urinary issues, and basically pelvic floor dysfunction.

I just returned from shockwave therapy with Dr Kirk Andrew..
In order to ensure that shockwave helps, there are stretches and other things I must do.

Rolfing is one of them. Dry needling is another.
If anyone is from NJ.. and knows of a good center that does Rolfing could you please reply?. (Also do you know of a dry needling place). I don't think my PT ( who is very good) does dry needling.. I would really appreciate any recommendations.

I live about 45 min from NYC but would prefer not to go there (as Hubby would have to drive me in and parking and tolls are very expensive, ..We have been there many times for a previous doctor and others etc... Will go there if we have to have to.... as I want to follow all of Dr Andrew's instructions... He is very good and very knowledgable and kind.

Thank you very much,
KathyD

Hi Jax,
Thanks for asking.
It was a 4 day session.. Dr Andrews is very competent, compassionate and knowledgable about pelvic pain and this protocol.
It's extremely painful while the shockwave is applied but he will stop whenever you need a break. The pain stops then, and you take a breath!
He hits the most painful spots first . He also discovered other areas of my body that were driving the anal pain.. We worked on those too.
Then on the final day, he re-did the painful areas to make sure he has been thorough enough. He found more lumpy tissue and worked on that...
I am pretty bruised up,
It is not a quick fix, and I have been given other modalities that I can do back home ,(rolfing , dry needling for ex.. I must find those practitioners here.. and also continue my Physical therapy according to his instructions I also have 2 stretches so far, and will be getting more when he sends me my written summary and instructions.
Stretching is very important, to continue all the work the shockwave has done ... You will note that in Konedog's posts.

Shockwave is something that will take time to work... No magic bullets and each case is different in his instructions etc. I am in the recovery phase now ..
Thanks again for asking!

HI
I have never had it myself and can't find local practitioners that I would feel comfortable with in my area..I
would want someone who has heard of PN and related disorders...
I wish I could answer your question,... it sounds like deep tissue massage.
I haven't tried it yet.

Sincerely,
Kathyd
