Ketamine

Post by Grammy »

Even if these infusions did not stop the pain, how did it help mentally if at all. I allow my pain to cause severe anxiety which is as bad as pain. Antidepressants don’t do much for me.

I did see her and did a drg trial which I will eventually post under neurostimulation. No sedation was given...most painful experience of my life next to surgery. Having a hard time with anxiety from the foreign object feeling always being there. Ketamine is being used in the big hospitals in Boston but I am not sure what for. I need it for mental health and any pain help would be a big bonus. There is a local clinic that does ten infusions for four thousand out of pocket over ten consecutive days skipping the weekend. Would love to hear from someone as to how the infusions were and did it take away our mental reactions to the pain.

Does anyone know if long term pelvic pain is centralized pain. I ask because ketamine is good for that. Before I go forward with the drg, I want to trial an scs at level s2and s3. Barreveld said she could not do this???

Hi Grammy,

I know that doctors who are trained to implant one type of stimulator are often not trained to do other kinds (e.g., my pain doctor can do a spinal cord stimulator but he cannot place the leads on the drg or the pudendal nerve), so that maybe why that doctor can do a drg but not the scs.

Yes, pelvic pain can be centralized. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4501205/

Some people with PN have good results with ketamine, some don't. You won't know unless you try it.

PNE since 2002. Started from weightlifting. PNE surgery from Dr. Bautrant, Oct 2004. Pain now is usually a 0 and I can sit for hours on certain chairs. No longer take medication for PNE. Can work full time and do "The Firm" exercise program. 99% cured from PGAD. PNE surgery was right for me but it might not be for you. Do your research.
