flare help advice needed

Post by thelonius »

Hi, all. I have a long (30 year+) history of PN pain. Recently after a sexual encounter (non-coital) I had a flare up almost immediately following ejaculation (maybe half an hour) and although this has happened in the past occasionally, this time the pain has been severe (penis, testicle and foot) and lasted thus far two weeks. The question I have is can ejaculation initiate a flare up? Anyone who can reassure me this is the case or has something else gone wrong?

Welcome to the group, thelonius,

I'm not sure, but it seems like a possibility. I know that sexual activity can aggravate pn symptoms. It sometimes takes a while for pain to kick in, so it may not have been the ejaculation per se that created the pain; it may instead have been the encounter more generally. Have you seem a doctor yet?

Or it could be related to the spasm of the muscles irritating the nerve because the pelvic floor contracts when you ejaculate. But yes, it is very common for ejaculation to cause a flare-up in symptoms. Two weeks is a long flare-up though. What pain management measures are you taking to manage the pain?

PNE since 2002. Started from weightlifting. PNE surgery from Dr. Bautrant, Oct 2004. Pain now is usually a 0 and I can sit for hours on certain chairs. No longer take medication for PNE. Can work full time and do "The Firm" exercise program. 99% cured from PGAD. PNE surgery was right for me but it might not be for you. Do your research.
