What can I expect to feel during a ketamine infusions?

Post by Lucyinthesky »

Is there anyone who can tell me what it feels like to have the ketamine infusion? I reached the point last week where I just wanted out. I contacted my Dr and he has immediately booked me in for an infusion. Will I be groggy and just sleep while on it? Will I be spacey or feeling like I’m on a bad trip? Or will I be a mix of everything and able to read and binge watch tv? I want to live and have quality of life. I want to play with my kids and have sex with my husband. I’m going to have a SNS implant done later In the year. I just have to get through this patch.

I haven't had ketamine infusions but I've read other people's posts and talked to people and it seems like people react differently. I have heard it described as feeling high but it may depend on the dosage you get. You can read Amanda's experience if you go to the Advanced search in the right hand corner and type in keyword ketamine and author Amanda. Also you can read nyt's posts about ketamine. She has had it. If you go to the pudendalhope.org homepage and go to Personal Stories on the left you can read Larry's experience with ketamine.

PNE since 2002. Started from weightlifting. PNE surgery from Dr. Bautrant, Oct 2004. Pain now is usually a 0 and I can sit for hours on certain chairs. No longer take medication for PNE. Can work full time and do "The Firm" exercise program. 99% cured from PGAD. PNE surgery was right for me but it might not be for you. Do your research.

Well I can say that I have reacted well to the infusion - I’ve been on thendrip for four days and have seen a drop in the excruciating chuck the towel in pain. I haven’t had any reaction to the ketamine. At the very least so far I can say that I have gone as low as pain scores of 2 - which is nothing! Whatever the long term outcome it has certainly worked for me because in all honesty I don’t know how I would have kept going.

I had a terrible reaction to ketamine. I was out of my head - I guess I had a "bad trip" - I awoke with extreme nausea and a migraine. I had to be wheeled out in a wheelchair. I was sick for a week afterwards, throwing up. I don't know how they market that poison. I'm glad you were helped but others need to be aware of the dark side of ketamine. It cost us a lot of $$. I called the doctor and he refunded some of it but I think he should have warned me prior to getting it what could happen. I went through torture and was left just as bad as I was when I went in.
