BENZODIAZEPINE WEBSITE

Post by sadie »

www.benzoinfo.com is a site that may help you if you are taking, or thinking of taking, or trying to come off of benzodiazepines.

Because so many pudendal nerve patients are at one point in their journey, prescribed one drug or another from this class of medication, you may want to see what this site has to say.

It's a relatively new site with a very knowledgeable board of directors, with lots of well written accounts as to what benzodiazepines can do to your brain and to your life. The site advocates for change to protect patients from the negative effects of benzos, and has a wonderful mission statement.

I had been on Clonazepin since 2006 with a daily dose of 0.5mg for sleep due to PN pain . This was later increased to 120mg a month. Seven years of benzos ..when in fact they should typically only be prescribed for 3-4 weeks . I slowly took myself off of the Clonazepin in 2013 , and yet still in 2018 feel like my brain is made of Teflon and my emotions are fluid because of the damaged GABA.

I hope that maybe this site will help someone. I do understand the need for relief from PN symptoms that this class of drug offers, but regardless of that, I feel we all need to be informed of the short and long term side effects right up front. Compassionately, Sadie

2010 PNB w steroids caused severe PGAD
11-2010 St Josephs NH. , ketamine drip, meds etc to stop nerve from firing, nothing worked
11-2010 - 3-2011 Elliott Hosp. Pain Manag. Center , 16 PNB w/ lidocane did not work

Excellent post, Sadie. I agree -- we need to be informed about the side effects of the medications that we take.

PNE since 2002. Started from weightlifting. PNE surgery from Dr. Bautrant, Oct 2004. Pain now is usually a 0 and I can sit for hours on certain chairs. No longer take medication for PNE. Can work full time and do "The Firm" exercise program. 99% cured from PGAD. PNE surgery was right for me but it might not be for you. Do your research.
