Chiropractic Treatment

Post by jessyw417 »

I was running out of options. The last thing left was the Nerve Entrapment Surgery. My psychologist suggested I see a Neurologist at Hopkins or even a Chiropractor. I had nothing to loose, but more time and more money. So I saw a chiropractor.

He told me he had never treated anyone for this before, was shocked by everything I had gone through, and said he would give it a shot. He said that I would know in two weeks if it was going to work or not. We would decide then if he would continue treating me.

By the end of the first week, I felt a difference. I wasn't sure if it was in my head or what, but I liked it! Half way through the second week I had zero sitting pain. He told me to come back in a month for a check up.

Hard to believe I had underwent so many surgeries and pointless procedures. This Chiropractor was an old school one, Dr. Pickett of Bel Air, MD. Never even took an x ray. He just watched me walk, felt my back, folded me like a pretzel and cracked my hip. Aparently my hip wasn't aligned and that was trapping that nerve. Since completeing his treatment, I have discontinued all the medicines I was on (except birth control). Including Cymbalta, Percocet, Adderall (I'm ADHD too).

I feel great! I think it is definitley worth trying.

Jessyw417 > I don't see you posting anymore since you had your pain resolved, but just incase you see this......what a small world! I am from Bel Air and used to see ole doc Pickett too. Isn't he a keeper :D Wish I could see him now, but I moved to the VA/ NC line 12 years ago.

For everyone still posting on this forum, this gives me the opportunity to bring up a topic that happened to me and I want to see if any of you guys & gals have ever experienced anything like it.

This happened twice.

The 1st time I was weeding my strawberry patch. I was sitting on the dirt and stretching as far as I could reach in every direction to reach the weeds that needed pulling. My legs were in different positions depending on which way I needed to reach. At times both were straight out in front of me. Or, one was bent with the other straight out. Just imagine all the different “sitting” positions you can imagine if you were trying to pull weeds.

Later that evening, approx 6-8 hours after the weeding, as I was eating dinner, I went to sit down at the table and ………………all pain was GONE! No burning anywhere, no feeling of soreness or a lump at my ischail tuberious (sit bone), no hardness, no tailbone soreness, no sacrum pain, no leg or hip pain, NO PAIN OF ANY KIND< ANYWHERE! I of course was in disbelief and got up and sat back down, still nothing. I then ran from chair to chair to test my bottom on each seat in the house, giggling as I found blissful “nothing” as I sat down in each of them. This continued for approx. 4-5 hours until I went to bed and to sleep. Woke up the next morning and all my pain was back, nothing had changed. :(

The 2nd time the same “relief” happened was after my PT at that time had tried a new manipulation/stretch. Again, 6-8 hours later I was surprised as I sat down and found that I had no pain at all. Just like the 1st time. Went to bed that night with no pain and got up the next morning and all pain was back.

Since I have been suffering for so long (7.5 yrs), I can’t recall exactly when the above happened. But as best as I can recall, the 1st time was probably 3 yrs. after my PN symptoms first started. The 2nd time was probably 4 yrs. after my PN pain started.
I can only guess that these two instances came from stretching a certain way, which then “released” my pudendal nerve from where it was “entrapped”. Just like ole Dr Pickett had done for Jessyw417.

With both these instances happening so long ago, I doubt that even doing the same “stretch”, if I could remember/recreate, might not help at this point. But who knows……………..if I ever make a trip back up north, maybe I’ll go see ole Dr Pickett. :D

Very interesting, Robyn! I also wonder if your relief was due to a particular stretch? I had an entire day of no sitting pain a couple of years ago, too. I don't remember any particular stretches I may have done but I remember it was in the summer time, and I was able to sit very comfortably at a picnic table feeling no pain - no nothing!!!!

I didn't wake up with the pain that day, and I went to bed that night with NO pain! :D

:( Sigh ... me, too. :(
So, in my 3+ years of excruiating PN pain, I had this blessed one day. Has this happened to anyone else? What is this perplexing phenomena?

Jessy - I'm so happy the chiro is working for you! I sincerely hope this resolves your issues!

Warm regards,
Karyn

I've been seeing a chiropractor for a few months now. After my first visit with him, I left with a strange sensation I hadn't experienced during my entire ordeal. By the end of the night, I was sitting pain free and did so for a few days. Unfortunately, a few days was all the relief I got, because just as suddenly as I got this pain in the beginning, I got it again. :(

A fluke? I don't know.

Pain started suddenly April 2010.
3T MRI w/ Dr. Potter, January 2011 shows bilateral impingement of the dorsal nerve of the clitoris.

Unsure what to do next because my pelvis is a mess.

I, too, have had remissions, but they didn't last. I had a good spell around New Year's, and actually stood at a party for 2 whole hours, and wasn't in agony the next day. But it didn't last. It's so disappointing to get your hopes up, and then be as bad as ever.... My pain seems to cycle up and down for no apparent reason. I'm 48, and I wonder if it's hormonal?

I have also had some relief from my chiropractor. He basically pressed on various trigger points around my groin in front and spots on my behind. He did not directly touch my genitals at all. He said he could feel major spasms in my buttocks and groin, specifically the obturator internus and externus and levator ani. I think it helped a bit. He felt that it was really more a job for a massage therapist. I have a very good massage therapist who is willing to work on those areas. That's my next thing to try. I'm just worried because so often, treatments make me worse.
