Hi,
Is anyone currently on COBRA or has been on COBRA b/c they are either on disability or had to leave their jobs due to PN?
If you are/were on COBRA what happens after COBRA ends? Do you just pick a health insurance plan on the open marketplace? The plans on there don't seem to cover any out-of-network doctors which appears to be a real problem.
Does anyone know if there is a way to extend COBRA or get any other type of medical insurance specific to being disabled?
I'm young so I would not be eligible for Medicare or anything like that.
Any advice would be great!
Thanks,
Buttercup

COBRA/Open Marketplace Plans
Sudden pelvic pain onset that landed me in the ER 2x -- diagnosed with severe pelvic floor dysfunction and suspected IC. Diagnosed with pudendal neuralgia via MRI and EMG and hip impingement/labral tear on CTscan. Ran the gamut with tests, treatments, procedures, injections, drugs, etc. since then. Still on the quest for answers....

I know people who were too young for medicare who went on disability and got health insurance -- probably medicaid. https://www.healthcare.gov/people-with- ... e-options/
If you don't qualify for disability and medicaid then you probably have to get something through the marketplace when cobra ends. You might be eligible for an extension of cobra. https://www.dol.gov/sites/default/files ... umer_0.pdf

PNE since 2002. Started from weightlifting. PNE surgery from Dr. Bautrant, Oct 2004. Pain now is usually a 0 and I can sit for hours on certain chairs. No longer take medication for PNE. Can work full time and do "The Firm" exercise program. 99% cured from PGAD. PNE surgery was right for me but it might not be for you. Do your research.
