Folks:
I've had PN from biking for 3 years now. Took a long time to get to diagnosis, but finally got there. My MD gave me 300 MG/day Gabapentin, which works really well for me. My pain and ED (I'm male) go away. However, the GB gives me terrible panic attacks and sleepless nights -- even just the 50 MG/day dosage. My wife takes GB for a different nerve condition, and it's like taking vitamins for her. She gets great benefit with no side effects. She sleeps like a baby. Does anyone have experience with GB, and, if so, how has it gone? I plan to try Lyrica but fear that I'll have similar issues. Any thoughts welcome.
Thanks,
Bill
Experience with Gabapentin -- Side Effects
Re: Experience with Gabapentin -- Side Effects
Hi Bill,
I took GB for a short time -- 900 mg total a day. It didn't help the pain much but made me loopy and then I started getting shooting pains so I quit taking it. Everyone reacts differently though. Some people find lyrica, a related drug, works better so it certainly wouldn't hurt to try it and see if you can still get the pain relief without the side effects. You just don't know unless you try it, eh?

PNE since 2002. Started from weightlifting. PNE surgery from Dr. Bautrant, Oct 2004. Pain now is usually a 0 and I can sit for hours on certain chairs. No longer take medication for PNE. Can work full time and do "The Firm" exercise program. 99% cured from PGAD. PNE surgery was right for me but it might not be for you. Do your research.
