increased pain

Post by stcyt123 »

Hello,
I got my first bilateral ultrasound guided nerve block last week. Initially I was in heaven. Then, two days later, my pain skyrocketed. I am back up to an 8 on the pain scales. I had gotten down around the 4's and 5's. Its unbearable. I have had it for four days now. Is this normal?

Yes, it's normal to have a flare-up after a nerve block. Usually it happens when the steroid kicks in several days after the block and it may last several weeks. Maybe your physician can prescribe additional pain medication for you during this time. Also, ice can be very helpful.

PNE since 2002. Started from weightlifting. PNE surgery from Dr. Bautrant, Oct 2004. Pain now is usually a 0 and I can sit for hours on certain chairs. No longer take medication for PNE. Can work full time and do "The Firm" exercise program. 99% cured from PGAD. PNE surgery was right for me but it might not be for you. Do your research.

Thanks violet,
I just saw this. I appreciate your reply. Things did settle a bit and my pain got pretty low for a few days. But its back up. Ugh

Thanks again
