Australian update

Post by Catherine Aur »

Latest information from Sydney.

WHRIA (Womens Health Research Institute of Australia) still do pudendal nerve release surgery and are very careful in the selection process.
They also treat males with PN symptoms.

As far as new things are concerned, they continue to improve with pulsed radio-frequency and neuro-modulation techniques. Everyone at WHRIA has increased his or her expertise in treating perineal and pelvic pain.

One new and exciting development is the introduction of neuro-modulation of the actual pudendal nerve itself. WHRIA are in the process of optimising the placement procedure for the electronic lead, but the initial results are quite exciting.

Thanks for the update. It's good to hear progress is being made there.

PNE since 2002. Started from weightlifting. PNE surgery from Dr. Bautrant, Oct 2004. Pain now is usually a 0 and I can sit for hours on certain chairs. No longer take medication for PNE. Can work full time and do "The Firm" exercise program. 99% cured from PGAD. PNE surgery was right for me but it might not be for you. Do your research.
