Aching after nerve block wears off?

Post by wannagetbetter »

I had a nerve block in early June. I think it is wearing off.
Where before I had spasm of lots of muscles including the piriformis now I am feeling a more diffuse aching in the buttocks and rectal area as well as going down the backs of both legs, even though the original pain was only left sided.

Why might this happen?

Any ideas on what to do to help it?

What kind of nerve block did you have? Was it on both sides or just the side that was bothering you originally?

PNE since 2002. Started from weightlifting. PNE surgery from Dr. Bautrant, Oct 2004. Pain now is usually a 0 and I can sit for hours on certain chairs. No longer take medication for PNE. Can work full time and do "The Firm" exercise program. 99% cured from PGAD. PNE surgery was right for me but it might not be for you. Do your research.

It sounds like to me, you are correct in that the shot is wearing off.

I also, got really intense leg cramps in the middle of the night a for few weeks after every injection. It seems pretty common with steroid shots in general not just PN.

S2, where the PN nerve connects to the spine also runs down the back of your leg, that is why you get the leg pain as well.

After the series of injection stopped, the spasms at night went away after several weeks.
