Lyrica Question
Lyrica Question
Hi, i am starting Lyrica tonight. Readng under the "more common" side effects,it lists nerve type problems like pins and needles and such. Why, if its a NERVE medication? So weird. http://www.drugs.com/sfx/lyrica-side-effects.html
Re: Lyrica Question
Hi,
I hope the Lyrica helped you. I took it a couple of months for a different reason. I do not have Fibro; I have had two PNE surgeries and no PT with either and hurt due to not having PT as it was needed. There are a couple of PTs about a hour or so from me now. I got very thin - far too thin and ate and ate to no avail. I asked a pain doctor to prescribe Lyrica because the people I know who have taken it did gain weight and I needed to do that. I ate the entire house after a few weeks with a mild dose. It did not hurt me otherwise, for I am basically healthy except for PNE which is enough thank goodness. I did put on weight - ten pounds I needed so I could fit into clothes which became a problem - I am tall and size 2 clothes do not fit tall people - at any price. I am now in a size 6 pants and a small/medium top. It is nice to have curves again after so many years of being straight. I also found out WHY I was so thin. I had to have a second internal hemorrhoid surgery - emergency basis. Instead of being constipated, I am fighting IBS I think. It is far better than the constipation/thin business. I take a valium suppository (10 mg) at night at bedtime to cool the vaginal area down, and now have to deal with bouts of diarrhea instead of the constipation all the time. A colon doctor gave me Dicyclomine Hcl 20 mg (Mylan) every 6 hours and I go on the BRAT diet - bananas, tapioca, applesauce and toast to cool things down to normal. This morning I woke up with a tummy ache; I ate breakfast - coffee and cereal and bam! the IBS and diarrhea ensued. It has been a long hard day. My heart goes out to anyone who is trying to live a normal life and stay in the bathroom for most of the day. As to Lyrica, it does stop the pain for my friends who have Fibro; nothing is as bad as the pain they say. They have to control the diet to a T and I understand why. I stayed hungry and found myself eating/stuffing for a big change in my lifestyle. I stopped taking it when I arrived at 120 pounds from 103/5. People need to know it will quiet the Fibro pain but it puts on a weight-gain problem if people are unaware of it. I hope it was effective with your Fibro pain and you have your life back again. It works for my friends. Carlie

Re: Lyrica Question
Lindsey I don't remember anyone on this forum posting pins and needles as a side effect with Lyrica. It seems like with most drugs there are a lot of possible side effects listed but that doesn't mean most people have all of those side effects and if you do have side effects, often they subside as your body adjusts to the medication. Good luck -- I hope the medication helps you.

PNE since 2002. Started from weightlifting. PNE surgery from Dr. Bautrant, Oct 2004. Pain now is usually a 0 and I can sit for hours on certain chairs. No longer take medication for PNE. Can work full time and do "The Firm" exercise program. 99% cured from PGAD. PNE surgery was right for me but it might not be for you. Do your research.
