I think they were squatting hip openers.
PNE since 2002. Started from weightlifting. PNE surgery from Dr. Bautrant, Oct 2004. Pain now is usually a 0 and I can sit for hours on certain chairs. No longer take medication for PNE. Can work full time and do "The Firm" exercise program. 99% cured from PGAD. PNE surgery was right for me but it might not be for you. Do your research.

Hi Lindsey,

I was diagnosed with pelvic hernias which greatly mimic PN and had surgery thinking this storm in my life would finally end. Before surgery I was in pain but functional and it is clear I most likely had a mild case of PN. After surgery everything went haywire! I am in constant pain, unable to sit and struggling with hyper arousal from time to time. My symptoms change daily and sometimes I am completely bedridden. I now understand that my issues began following a hysterectomy which is when my bladder and nerve issues began which quickly passed after several weeks of Pelvic Floor Therapy. Exercise was the trigger for me. I am a believer. I have been fighting through this for 10 months now. I am seeing an amazing doctor and currently undergo PFT weekly. I have had PT 18 times now and can honestly say I am seeing progress. It was and is the hardest thing I have ever done to go each week and undergo vaginal therapy, feeling like it was doing no good. I am now seeing results, even if at a snails pace. Every day is a battle. My daily goal is to go to work. My morning routine is exhausting, mostly as I work VERY HARD to prepare my mind to face the day. I've learned over the months that PN for me at times is even more of an emotional battle than it is physical. I am desperate to connect with other men and women who are suffering. I know everyone has their own way to cope, but for me, my faith has been my every breath. There are days I am completely overwhelmed. I really need to connect with others as this journey alone has been so difficult. I have tremendous support through family and friends but NO ONE seems to really understand. I noticed in another post that you mentioned hernia surgery? I am very interested in hearing your journey.

So grateful you shared. It gave me the courage to post :)

Welcome Birdsong. I am sorry to read of your suffering, but happy PT is helping. This condition presents unique challenges so it is nice we have a forum where we can feel understood and exchange ideas and encouragement.

Sincerely,
Stephanies
PN started 2004 from fall. Surgery with Filler Nov. 2006, Dr. Campbell April 2007. Pain decreased by 85% in 2008 (rectal and sitting pain resolved completely), pain returned in 12/13. Pain reduced significantly beginning around 11/23.

I am new to P-Hope. I was an active 48 year old woman who began having bladder issues (frequency and burning) last July and quickly progressed to pelvic, vaginal, labial and buttock pain. I spent months seeking doctors, answers, researching online and soon connected with a Hernia Specialist. I was diagnosed with pelvic hernias which greatly mimic PN and had surgery in October thinking this storm in my life would finally end. Birdsong, I just saw your post and wanted to say that I am a believer also and my faith is what got me through the worst of PNE. I understand how hard it is to get through a day so you just have to take one day at a time.

I was just curious who the physician was who performed your hernia surgery. There was a doctor in Southern CA who was doing a bunch of hernia surgeries and got in trouble with the state. Emily B knows more about this than I do. You can read her posts by doing a search on the name "Metzger" in the search bar in the upper right corner. The physician's name was Deborah Metzger.

Anyway, I'm glad to hear you are seeing a bit of progress even though slow.
