Partly based on history of weightlifting, pelvic exam with tenderness along the course of the nerve, pain in the distribution area of the PN, pain much worse on one side, and response to nerve blocks. There weren't as many other options back then when I had surgery.
I had the pnmlt before surgery. The side with less pain actually had a worse score than the painful side and the scores were borderline. It only measures motor conduction so I don't see it as extremely accurate. What you are having done might be different though. Good luck.

PNE since 2002. Started from weightlifting. PNE surgery from Dr. Bautrant, Oct 2004. Pain now is usually a 0 and I can sit for hours on certain chairs. No longer take medication for PNE. Can work full time and do "The Firm" exercise program. 99% cured from PGAD. PNE surgery was right for me but it might not be for you. Do your research.
