Instability of the pelvis

Post by becamichele »

I have PN for 7 years. It took me 4 years to find a doctors who gave my pain a name. My psychiatrist, Dr. Kaplowitz, treated me with muscle relaxers and medication for nerve pain. He didn't know what I had, but at least he was treating the symptoms, while I was looking for a diagnosis. A while later he introduced me to Dr. Christian Gonzalez, Pain Management Dr.G d. Bless them both. They are both amazing human beings, and excellent doctors.
I have piriformis syndrom, that is taken care of. Now, my pelvis is instable, and I need to go for Phisical therapy. What do I do ? I know that it will cause Pudendal Nerve pain, I am scared. My Pain Management Dr. can block the pudendal nerve, plus I have prescribed creams to put in the pelvic floor, topical cream to use anywhere else if it hurts, but that pain is "UNBEARABLE"
Is there anything anyone can advise?

Not sure if the pain dr would go for it but I take a painkiller 1 hour before PT so they can do the work more easily without killing me.
2007-08 pelvic muscles spasms treated by EGS. 6/27/10 sat too long on hard chair- spasms, EGS not work Botox help, cortisone shots in coccyx help, still pain, PT found PNE & sent me to Dr Marvel nerve blocks & MRN, TG left surgery 5/9/11. I have chronic bunion pain surgery at age 21. TG gave me back enough sitting to keep my job & join in some social activities. I wish the best to everyone! 2019 luck with orthotics from pedorthist & great PT allowing me to get off oxycodone.

Do you know what caused your pelvic instability?

My pelvic instability was caused by strained ligaments. I had some prolotherapy into the SI ligament that helped but I still have to be careful and not do certain things. It's not a cure but it helped.

PNE since 2002. Started from weightlifting. PNE surgery from Dr. Bautrant, Oct 2004. Pain now is usually a 0 and I can sit for hours on certain chairs. No longer take medication for PNE. Can work full time and do "The Firm" exercise program. 99% cured from PGAD. PNE surgery was right for me but it might not be for you. Do your research.

It is the pelvis that is weak so it is instable. It became weak because I learned to relax my gluteal muscles so I didn't have any pudendal nerve pain.

I have pain killers, but I need to stretch the IT Band and tighten the gluteal muscles every day. The pain killers don't help much. I have prescribed creams by my pain MD, and they help some, but as soon as I do any of the stretches or tightening the pain gets ugly.

Hi I am back. I have been told by my chiropractor, Dr. Greaux, all I need to do to tighten the muscles in the pelvis is to walk. I walked two days and the third day I had PN. I was in bed for two days with ice, so I realized I can not walk every day. This coming week I will try two days a week, and I will be starting some IT band stretching. I hope it will be fine, and I will get better. I also hope all of you get better.

In my case pelvic instability played a huge role in causing pudendal neuralgia. Before I had PNE surgery it was difficult to walk and stretching exercises made the pain worse over time because the nerve was entrapped. I don't know what the effects will be for you if you continue exercising and stretching but I hope you get better. Good luck,
