Hi, I have a NCV-EMG left lower extrimity test in January... I have never had a EMG test of any kind before, just MRI's. I dont know what to expect? Its because I have that discomfort in my left thigh, sometimes hip and buttocks, and even heel of foot. It all started with aching on the vagina though that comes and goes. Is it painful?
I havent been diagnosed with anything yet. My neurologist is not a "pn" specialist but i figured i needed to start somewhere.
If I do have PN, will an EMG make it worse or could it cause entrapment or new problems??
Question about EMG test???

What kind of emg are you having? NCV? Not sure where exactly that is administered.

This link has a good description of NCV/EMG testing. http://www.webmd.com/brain/electromyogr ... on-studies
It sounds like yours will be of the lower extremities (legs) and my guess is most likely it will involve electrodes, not needles so I doubt it will be painful. I've never heard of anyone getting worse from EMG of the legs.

PNE since 2002. Started from weightlifting. PNE surgery from Dr. Bautrant, Oct 2004. Pain now is usually a 0 and I can sit for hours on certain chairs. No longer take medication for PNE. Can work full time and do "The Firm" exercise program. 99% cured from PGAD. PNE surgery was right for me but it might not be for you. Do your research.
