pelvic pain started 1985 age 14 interstitial cystitis. Refused medical care from age 17, did GREAT with self care for years.
2004 PN started gradually, disabled by 2009. Underlying cause SIJD & Tarlov cysts
improved with PT & meds: neurontin, valium, nortriptyline, propanolol. (off nortriptyline & propanolol now, yay!)
Tarlov cyst surgery with Dr. Frank Feigenbaum March 20, 2012.
Results have been excellent so far; but I won't know my final functional level for a couple of years.
2004 PN started gradually, disabled by 2009. Underlying cause SIJD & Tarlov cysts
improved with PT & meds: neurontin, valium, nortriptyline, propanolol. (off nortriptyline & propanolol now, yay!)

Pressure and pain in lower abdomen and groin area was unspeakable and devastating.

3T MRI at HSS, NY in 09/10
Bilateral TG surgery with Dr. Conway on 03/29/11. Bilat ilioinguinal & iliohypogastric neurectomy 03/12. TCD surgery 04/14.

When I read your post I was very upset, for both you and for your wife. When you live with someone with PN there are many moments that are unexpected and unprovoked.....your loss of your temper was probably unexpected as was your going to the hospital. i feel for you that you were rejected, however you also rejected your wifes assistance to you. I am not criticising you at all, however I hope that you have made your forgiveness to your wife after the event.
This is the most incredible condition and for any relationship to survive the ups and downs is surely a huge test of trust and love.
This pain is not understandable to outsiders who dont know how it feels....but we as sufferers need to accept and appreciate that we have to deal with it and we have not the right to pass that onto others who live with us.
I do find that some days I have incredible urges to just walk away from everyone, when my pain is very high; what do I do? Generally I go for a short gentle walk, sometimes just browsing through shops and then end up playing some music to distract me....the forum is of course my greatest way of bringing me down to earth and it makes me realise that I am not doing too badly after all.
I dont know if you see a counsellor or not, but when I did visit one regularly it was great to let off my frustrations without upsetting family members.
I ask you to try to pace yourself, and just take a deep breath and enjoy all the things you cna do, and if you cannot do or dont feel like doing something on a particular day then just stay in bed and admit you are not feeling too good that day and relax....stress is the worst thing we can do with PN.
I feel for you and hope that tonight that you are calm and as comfortable as you can possibly be....I have used so much ice today that my freezer cannot keep up!!

PNE started 2003 following Vaginal Hysterectomy, pelvic floor repair and right oophorectomy; eventually after many tests had BilateralTG surgery Nantes 2004; following this tried many other treatments including 7 day epidural, ketamin infusions to no avail; Trialed and was implanted with a Neurostimulator in 2007- Dr Van Buyten Belgium, this has enabled me to manage my pain much better.

That is so amazing. Our sex parts are broken so it seems like a natural place to turn for support, but I never thought of that before. I wish I had. My teen and early 20s may have been very different if I had had someone to talk to or someone who believed what I was dealing with.
