Of course you really can't, but perhaps if I could this whole thing might improve. Whenever I am peeing I can feeling my nerve tingle all the way through my butt in one fine line. The nerve is obviously working overtime during urination. It doesn't hurt it just feels like I have hundreds of sugar ants crawling on me.
The first time it happened I nearly fell off the toilet in a panic as I thought something was crawling on me! Sometimes I just can't help but laugh at myself and this whole ordeal.
Warm wishes,
Krista
How do you avoid peeing?!
How do you avoid peeing?!
Pain started suddenly April 2010.
3T MRI w/ Dr. Potter, January 2011 shows bilateral impingement of the dorsal nerve of the clitoris.
Unsure what to do next because my pelvis is a mess.

Krista,
I just want to let you know that PEEING SUCKS. I wish I could avoid it. Some days are fine, other's I'm in the bathroom peeing all day, and sometimes, that first "morning pee" just sets everything off!!!
Hang in there

Re: How do you avoid peeing?!
I couldnt agree more than with this topic.....i dread that first pee, yet if I hold off and dont go in the middle of the night then I know that the next day will be terrible with intense burning of the whole urinary system.
I did ask Prof Robert in Nantes to remove my bladder so that I couldnt feel the IC burn...however as he advised me this would not be of much use to me long term as the nerves soon catch up and will scream even louder than before!!!
My secret is to go little and often so that i dont put extra pressure on my sore bladder....probably influenced by my constant use of ice without which I cant sleep at all.

PNE started 2003 following Vaginal Hysterectomy, pelvic floor repair and right oophorectomy; eventually after many tests had BilateralTG surgery Nantes 2004; following this tried many other treatments including 7 day epidural, ketamin infusions to no avail; Trialed and was implanted with a Neurostimulator in 2007- Dr Van Buyten Belgium, this has enabled me to manage my pain much better.
Re: How do you avoid peeing?!
I'm convinced and feel free to argue with me that there really is no IC. I think it its injury to the nerves. Don't group it into some category and tell women they have some incurable bladder disease. It is NERVES people. Yes, I believe that there is a disease where people could get Hunner's Ulcers, but in the words of the great Cleveland Clinic female pelvic health doctor, "if someone distended MY BLADDER to 2000cc's, I'd have GLOMULERATIONS TOO!"
I am convinced that the majority of women who have been pregnant, had pelvic trauma, or surgery in that area have SOME form of nerve damage.
Maybe not PNE, but some form. I mean, what really is overactive bladder? According to medicine, it is an overactivity of the detrusor muscle. All stemming from the nerves.
Sorry, I'm on a rampage.
Love to all

Re: How do you avoid peeing?!
I have felt the same way...if only I could ignore that whole peeing business I'd be good to go! Now, that's not so much the problem. Currently I just want to avoid BM's. Blah. Having a BM has sent me into pain for a couple of hours for the past six weeks or so. Lovely stuff, this PN!
2008: mild pelvic pain and PFD began
2009: true PN/PFD pain, two PN blocks, normal PNMLT
2010: PT and conservative management with moderate improvement in PN/PFD symptoms
2011: surgery for extensive endometriosis; arthroscopic hip surgery to repair labral tear and FAI (right hip)
2012: C-section delivery of first child
2014: arthroscopic hip surgery to repair labral tear and FAI (left hip); C-section delivery of second child
Ongoing physical therapy since 2010 for both pelvic floor and hips.

Re: How do you avoid peeing?!
Just wanted to share that I'm just starting to look into IC issues and I feel like A's mommy is right.
I feel like if the nerves would stop burning I would stop wanting to pee to release that burning pressure in my pelvis.
I def. feel worse when I have caffeine, but mostly I feel it is nerves.
I also get the BM issues as well. I have no pain with them since surgery, but it take FOR EVER to get my pelvic floor to relax so I can have one.
Squatting is the best position for me to release my pelvic floor (realized after biofeedback testing a few times) and today I squatted for 50 min strait. I only moved when my feet went numb. I'm constantly squatting now. I was squatting in the OB office this morning and do it at PT in the waiting room as well. It really helps with going number 1 and 2.
For those of us with restroom issues due to pelvic floor issues, I highly recommend trying biofeedback to discover where your pelvic floor is most relaxed and then spend as much time as possible in that position.
