Cymbalta-brain effects?

Post by janetm2 »

Hi everyone,
Iwas wondering if Cymbalta has the same brain effects(confusion and can't think as well) as gabapenti/neurontin and Lyrica? I got off those because I have less pain and wanted my clear thinking back but now with depression I am on prozac and the doctor wanted me to think about switching to cymbalta. I do not want to get the fuzzy brain again.
Thanks, Janet
2007-08 pelvic muscles spasms treated by EGS. 6/27/10 sat too long on hard chair- spasms, EGS not work Botox help, cortisone shots in coccyx help, still pain, PT found PNE & sent me to Dr Marvel nerve blocks & MRN, TG left surgery 5/9/11. I have chronic bunion pain surgery at age 21. TG gave me back enough sitting to keep my job & join in some social activities. I wish the best to everyone! 2019 luck with orthotics from pedorthist & great PT allowing me to get off oxycodone.

Have been on 3000 mg of nuerton for a few years. 60 mg of cymbalta. Cymbalta is supposedly to help pain. I doubt it helps pn . Pain. Nuerontin is more like morontin. A comment I have heard in the past.
Surgery Jan.05 2011 TG with Dr Antalok. Dr.Chambi May of 2012 showed injury from a fall on back, 11 years ago. My piriformis muscle caused a large amount of fibrosis .My sciatic nerve was growing through the piriformis muscle which caused a bifid p.muscle. . Dr Chambi decompressed the sciatic, pudendal, pfcn ,and peroneal nerves. I hope to have a nuerostimulator put in to help with the sciatic pain that never goes away. Most days are better with the pudendal if I do not sit at all.

Thanks for your input and I was leary of how much pain help cymbalta might have although that we be a side benefit. I also agree with the morontin.

It made me as dazed as Lyrica
PN since March 2006. Chronic pain from when I wake up to when I go to sleep. Currently apply Xylocaine Ointment 5% (applied approx every 80 mins). See chiro once or twice a week.
Tried PN physio, Acupuncture, Cymbalta, Lyrica, Palexia, Topamax,Valium suppositories, Endep, Endep cream - can't tolerate them, quit after being drowsy, depressed, weight gain. Had PRF procedure July 2012, no improvement. Had TG PNE release surgery August 2012. L5-S1 spinal fusion and L5 nerve decompression Feb 2015

Thanks so very much for the comparison to lyrica. I have been there and done that. While I am still working I do not want to get on those drugs or even try and then worry about withdrawal.

I have been on Cymbalta and had terrible side effects I would never take that drug again or recommend it to anyone!
knitting keeps me sane!

Thanks so much. I will avoid it. We are really just working depression so no real need to take something that includes pain help but will give me more problems!
