OK, I'm not a radiologist but my guess is that with the right settings, it could be made to enhance certain types of tissue -- either nerves or other soft tissues. So if you are wanting to enhance soft tissue such as rectum and colon it might need a different setting than to enhance nerves. The tailbone might show up just fine on a simple x-ray (according to web md http://www.webmd.com/fitness-exercise/t ... cyx-injury).

PNE since 2002. Started from weightlifting. PNE surgery from Dr. Bautrant, Oct 2004. Pain now is usually a 0 and I can sit for hours on certain chairs. No longer take medication for PNE. Can work full time and do "The Firm" exercise program. 99% cured from PGAD. PNE surgery was right for me but it might not be for you. Do your research.

Dr. Hibner's radiologist is Olga Kalinkin.
PN started 2004 from fall. Surgery with Filler Nov. 2006, Dr. Campbell April 2007. Pain decreased by 85% in 2008 (rectal and sitting pain resolved completely), pain returned in 12/13. Pain reduced significantly beginning around 11/23.

Hi Verona,
Your best bet would be to contact a hospital with this equipment and ask to speak with the head of Radiology.
Best regards,
Karyn

Pressure and pain in lower abdomen and groin area was unspeakable and devastating.
Total lap hysterectomy in 06/08, but damage was already done.
EMG testing in NH in 04/10 - bilateral PN and Ilioinguals
3T MRI at HSS, NY in 09/10
Bilateral TG surgery with Dr. Conway on 03/29/11. Bilat ilioinguinal & iliohypogastric neurectomy 03/12. TCD surgery 04/14.

My impression was that Dr. Hibner didn't base a lot of his PN/PNE diagnosis on MRI/MRN results no matter which doctor did it. He seems to base much of his diagnosis on Loretta's PT evaluation.

Re: 3T
I am curious how many PN patients used the results of a Potter MRI as part of a treatment (including surgical) plan or decision and if people think her MRI helped in treatment outcome. I know someone who improved without PN surgery after the Potter MRI indicated a definite entrapment and I am trying to figure out the true value of her imaging/reports. The MRI report I got from Dr. Hibner seemed much less detailed than many of the Potter reports and even my MRN from many years ago. I am trying to sort out what a doctor can really "see" on the images and what is simply unknown or even guesswork.
