Successes with Dr. Hibner

Post by skn »

Has anyone on the forum had a significant improvement after decompression surgery with Dr. Hibner? If so, could you relate your experience? I am considering decompression surgery with him as well. Thanks for your responses.

Hello skn,
I've experienced significant and sustained improvement since decompression surgery 11/1/10. Dr Hibner found my nerve was very compressed by the STL. So prior to surgery any activity that engaged the STL (sitting and anything that engaged my core, like bending or lifting) caused deep sitinging nerve pain. Immediately after surgery I had no pain linkage to core activities, and sitting steadily improved over the last 3 years. Prior to surgery was only able to sit for an hour of so on a special pad...now am able to sit for up to 9 hours on the pad. No nerve pain with walking/standing. So surgery has given me my life back.

Have posted extensively under Case Updates and Reviews...search "rjr" and you will get a good sense of improvement over the last 3 years. Also posted surgery video on youtube.

Potter MRI (Oct'10) validated at surgery with Dr Hibner (Nov'10) - found nerve attached to scarred STL. Now sitting 10 hrs/day vs 1 hr/day pre-op. How long did you cure after surgery?

Did Dr Hibner made a partial incision of your STL or cut your SSL.

Did you experience preneum pain after surgery?

Hopeman,

Improvement has come in stages. Dr Hibner cut and then repaired the STL. After surgery I did experience perineal pain but...

...I experienced an improvement immediately after surgery (no core muscle linkage to trigger deep burning pain). Then gradual sitting (with pad) up to 4 hours at one year post op. At 2 years post op I experienced another improvement in ablity to sit for 7-8 hours. At nearly 4 years post op, sitting on pad is almost unlimited with standing walking breaks. There is some low level of non-burning discomfort thatcomes and goes. Bicycling today is a no-no and does lead to perineal discomfort.

Surgery gave me my life back.

After surgery the muscle pain linkaged to to trigger deep burning pain disappeared.

I seemed to have one side surgery and you experienced perineal pain after surgery.

Did your perineum pain both side? How long did you have such perineal pain after surgery.

After more seven months of surgery, my sitting pain is about 5 score and standing pain is about 2 score.

But I have intermittence pain in both petineum. How do you think for my recovery process.

I have left side surgery and muscle pain triggered to the deep burning in the upper anus disappeared after surgery.

But I have both side perineum pain now. Did you had similar experience as mine. Because my muscle pain disappear, I had perineum pain at right side. I am confused whether I should second surgery for the right side.

Hopeman,

My pain was always one-sided and in the perineal area. Seven months is still fairly early in the recovery process...at least it was for me.

Best to discuss with your doctor.
