Doctors in New York who provide treatment?
Doctors in New York who provide treatment?
I am located in New York City, and contacted Dr. Hollis Potter, but apparently she only does diagnostic imaging. Does anyone know of a doctor in New York with a specialty in treating PNE? I have been suffering with this for over 10 years, gone to many doctors, but none have diagnosed PNE nor been able to help. After reading alot about PNE, I am pretty sure I have come to the right self-diagnosis. Hard to believe there is no one in this big city. I am an otherwise healthy and active 48 year-old male. Any thoughts are appreciated. Thank you. --David

There is no one in NYC that is a pudendal specialist. The best pelvic pain specialist in NYC is probably Dr. Jain. I saw him for a short time but it is a 5 hour drive for us and he doesn't take insurance.
The closest pudendal specialist are probably Dr. Howard in Rochester, NY and Dr. Conway in NH. I don't know if Dr. Howard works with male patients. I see him today so I'll ask him and send you a PM.

Re: Doctors in New York who provide treatment?
There are less than a dozen PNE doctors in the whole country. Most of us end up traveling for care. I've read some reviews of some good PTs in NYC (Amy Stein is the name I'm thinking of off the top of my head), but no doctors who treat it.davidA wrote: Hard to believe there is no one in this big city.
PNE as a result of childbirth, 2002. Treatment by the Houston team, with neurosurgery by Dr. Ansell in 2004. My left side ST and SS ligaments were found to be grown together, encasing the pudendal nerve.
I am cured. I hope you will be, too.
There are no medical answers on the forum. Your only hope is to go to a doctor. I was very happy with the Houston team, which has treated the most PNE patients (well over 400), more than any other US provider.

Dr. Howard does not see male patients. Celeste suggestion of Amy Stein is great she owns "Beyond Basics" in NYC and has a great reputation. Also, you might want to see about an MRI with Dr. Potter. If you look through the forum you should find contact information and how the prescription would need to be written for the MRI. Starting with the MRI with Dr. Potter would be great because she would give you a really good idea where the problem(s) are.

Re: Doctors in New York who provide treatment?
Thanks for your posts. Dr. Potter's office requires a prescription for the test. I think I am going to go see Dr. Loren Fishman, who seems to focus on Piriformas Syndrome, but hopefully I can start with him. I may indeed have to hope on a plane to Houston or San Francisco, but will start with Fishman.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

Re: Doctors in New York who provide treatment?
I find it hard to believe that there are so few PNE doctors in NYC. I just moved to Manhattan, and sadly I do not have healthcare. Does anyone have any recommendations for a doctor I can go see? Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Charlie

I think you have your answers above Charlie. I wonder if DavidA found anything more out about Dr Fishman?? As Celeste and nyt's suggestion; Amy Stein is well known for physio treatment and may be able to help in your quest too. If you do manage to find any info could you let us know please.
Take care and let us know how you get on.

Hi-
I live in Wis., and called Potter's office last week. Just FYI - they told me end of March for the first appointment for her scan. Wow!
so if you are even remotely thinking about it, I would get on the list, and you do need a docs order to be faxed there.
It is unreal that there are no docs in NYC for this, sad really.

I have found this website for a urology clinic that treats "Pelvic Pain" and Pelvic Floor issues that is located in NYC:

Maybe they can be of help.
