Dr. Conway started TG surgery since at least 2012

Dr. Conway started doing TG surgeries in 2012. I had mine in May of 2012.

These are details from my surgery, of course things are different surgery to surgery.

He uses a NIMS device to measure the nerve conductivity before and after the decompression.

When i had mine he also used a lidocane "ball" to help with the skin and muscle pain.

He removes it at the 2 week follow up, dose not hurt and is quick with a band aid to cover the spot.

He also may use seprafilm to help the nerve while it heals.

Hi, I'm relatively new to the forum but I am a long time sufferer. I have had pelvic floor pain for almost 2 decades. I am particularly interested in posts from people who have had surgery with Dr. Conway as I am pretty sure I am headed in that direction. I saw him in December and he proclaimed me to be a candidate for bilateral TG PN release. One of my biggest hang ups is anticipating what the recovery will be like (despite reading and re-reading that it is very long). I will only be able to take the full 12 weeks of family/medical leave time off from work. I know everyone is different and of course there's no crystal ball... but what was your (and anyone else's) experience with sitting 12 weeks post? If you work, did you return? I have a long commute to work and do a lot of sitting at work which, thank goodness, is only 3 days a week. I hear that pain is actually at a high point at the 3 month mark...was this your experience? If you or anyone else in a similar situation can share your experiences, I would much appreciate it. we are all different and for me left TG surgery with Dr Marvel in May 2011, he thought I would return to work in one month (I guess this maens some folks fall in that category). At three months I could just start to try work for 2 hours a day. I finally got Family Medical Leave Act leave without pay and so took it really slow ramping up to 6 hour days by the holidays. Then stayed at that until the new year and slowly made it to some 8 hour days but then decided it was not worth it and continue with the leave so I can work 6-7.5 hours a day or less with the snow time off or other appointments. I only have 2 years until retirement and this seems the best way to get there. Best of luck to you. I also did a ton of PT, acupuncture, and then some water therapy and just ended PT this past December this also dipped into the work days.

I'm a 36yo male working as a engineer, I have been on Dr. Conways modified bed rest since 2010, so while ive been able to keep from getting obese I am for from a active person.
If I'm not working I'm in bed.

My TIA recovery was 5 months.

The TG was 15 weeks before returning to work 1/2 time.

I went to PT after the 6 week mark ad they worked on the scar tissue and mobility, I think that helped allot.

my advice is find a way to use the computer while laying down this helps allot and help with the sanity of recovery. We also moved a small college refrigerator upstairs to keep the stairs to a minimum.

I feel like a boob for not responding sooner. Sorry!
When I first read your post; I thought: Oh! We had our surgeries around the same time! Time is something I have difficulties keeping track of these days. But I actually had my TG surgery with him in March 2011. All I had to do was look down at my signature. Duh!
I'm pretty sure I'm in the top five, as he had just gotten his permission from St. Joe's at the end of January 2011.
