Hello All

Post by Gary »

Please can someone put my mind at rest?

Some of you may remember me. With Greg T's help I had surgery in 2003 in Nantes France with Roger Robert. I made a full 100% recovery.

However, just before Christmas I stupidly lifted something heavy and now have that nightmare feeling back again (though a little different to before). Basically a tension around my anus, a mild burning, and a feeling that something is not quite right. Interestingly I feel this discomfort when sitting, lying down or standing. I have full control of the pelvic floor muscles, i.e. I can kegel, so there isn't total malfunction.

I am hoping I have just strained the pelvic floor area. Is this likely? Surely I can't be unlucky enough to get PNE twice?

Please help me put my mind at rest. Because I am now worried sick which isn't helping matters.

God bless.

Gary,
I may not be positive but I think Violet may have the answer. I think she and others have had flare-ups that were not re-entrapments. I share your fear and why I told my hairdresser that carrying around the cushion was a fact of life and an easy thing to hopefully avoid a re-entrapment. Hopefully someone can confirm this for you. Good luck working your way back to rrecovery, again.

2007-08 pelvic muscles spasms treated by EGS. 6/27/10 sat too long on hard chair- spasms, EGS not work Botox help, cortisone shots in coccyx help, still pain, PT found PNE & sent me to Dr Marvel nerve blocks & MRN, TG left surgery 5/9/11. I have chronic bunion pain surgery at age 21. TG gave me back enough sitting to keep my job & join in some social activities. I wish the best to everyone! 2019 luck with orthotics from pedorthist & great PT allowing me to get off oxycodone.

Hi Gary,

Janet is right, I've had some minor flare-ups before but they eventually die down if I am careful.

If Prof Robert severed your ST and SS ligaments like he normally does than I can't see how you would be re-entrapped in those areas with the nerve squished between those 2 ligaments. Is you pain on just one side now or both?

There is potential for new nerve entrapment from scar tissue or fascia but it's also possible you just have muscle strain with pelvic floor muscle tension and that you might benefit from some pelvic floor myofascial release. I think it's definitely worth a try. Is there any chance you have a spinal injury from your lift rather than peripheral pudendal neuralgia? Have you had an MRI to rule that out?

Take care,

Violet
PNE since 2002. Started from weightlifting. PNE surgery from Dr. Bautrant, Oct 2004. Pain now is usually a 0 and I can sit for hours on certain chairs. No longer take medication for PNE. Can work full time and do "The Firm" exercise program. 99% cured from PGAD. PNE surgery was right for me but it might not be for you. Do your research.

I am freaking out but trying not to. I had forgotten about pne. I was cured for ten years.

Is it possible i have just hurt the area? Symptoms feel different to before. I have full control of muscles of the pelvic floor but they do burn and feel irritated and congested.. Pain is there whether i sit, stand, or lie down. The pain seems to come and go.
Just had a bout of hsv1 because i am so run down.

Hi Gary,
I can understand your concern and am sorry you're going through this. Just a suggestion:
To put your mind at ease; it may be helpful to make an appointment with a PT for an evaluation. It's possible you could've strained something while lifting. Hernia?
If you're pain hasn't subsided by now and you're feeling anxious, it's probably time to consult with a PT or MD to find out what's going on.
I wish you the best and hope this only temporary.

Kind regards,
Karyn

Unfortunately i live in the uk which has a 3rd rate health system. I can only imagine the frustrations trying to find a british doctor or pt to help. I went to nantes for my surgery in 2003.

I thought i would never think of pne again. I was cured since 2004. Ill choose suicide over pne again. God must hate me if i have got it again.

Please... is it possible that what i have experienced these last 2.5 weeks is temporary?

Yes, Gary. It's possible. I understand the medical system can be extremely difficult and frustrating to navigate, but if you really want to put your mind at ease, your best bet is to seek the opinion of a medical professional.

Very concerning! :(

Also very concerning! Please attempt to seek consultation instead of working yourself up.

I am freaked out. Now on my own. Friends and family are idiots. Keep getting told to go to a doctor? I cant be helped by a doctor in the uk.

Symptoms seem to be getting worse and/or better or different.

I havent sat for two weeks yet my pelvic floor burns!

This could be temporary?
