I definitely don't have any coccyx pain but I do have ischeal tuberosity pain. I put mine down to a connective tissue issue as Karyn has mentioned. When different muscles in the pelvis spasm it puts a strain on the connective tissue. This is mentioned in Guide to Pelvic Pain on the home page.
This is what it says.
2.3.3 Muscles and pelvic pain
In the urogenital pain syndromes muscle tenderness and trigger points may be implicated as a source of pain.
Central mechanisms are of great importance in the pathogenesis of this muscle hyperalgesia. The muscles
involved may be a part of the spinal, abdominal or pelvic complex of muscles. It is not unknown for adjacent
muscles of the lower limbs and the thorax to become involved. Pain may be localised to the trigger points
but is more often associated with classical referral patterns. As well as trigger points, inflammation of the
attachments to the bones (enthesitis) and of the bursa (bursitis) may be found (28-30).

Fall 2008. Misdiagnosed with lumber spine problem. MRN June 2010 indicated pudendal entrapment at Alcocks canal. Diagnosed with complex variant piriformis syndrome with sciatic, pudendal and gluteal entrapment's by Dr Filler 2010.Guided piriformis botox injection 2011 Bristol. 2013, Nerve conduction test positive; new spinal MRI scan negative, so diagnosed for the 4th time with pelvic nerve entrapment, now recognised as Sciatic, pudendal, PFCN and cluneal nerves at piriformis level.

Re: Does Anyone Have PN/PNE and Coccyx Problems?
I have had bursitis in my coccyx before, in college, from lots of sitting on hard chairs. Used one of those inflatable donut cushions & took pain pills when I needed to, and it eventually went away. It was a long time ago, so I can't remember how long I had it, but it was a few months.
I'm now noticing I'm having more pain in my coccyx the past week or so. It's coinciding with a decrease in my PGAD, and an increase in the pain I'm experiencing in the vulva and clitoris area. I don't know if they're related or not. I don't know if I'm leaving the PGAD world and moving to the PN world fulltime, but 'what I have' has changed over the 2 years I've had it. Docs haven't found any impingement or Tarlov cysts, so I don't know what's next.

On the road of discovery to see what is causing my PGAD.

Re: Does Anyone Have PN/PNE and Coccyx Problems?
i too have both! and yes it does suck, my physical therapist that i go to for womens health and pn, has to readjust my coccyx bone & my hips every week. Those cut out cushions for me, make my pain worse, so i sit on a memory foam pillow, which i take everywhere with me! i dont care if it is the fancist restruant the pillow comes with me. I don't know what you sleep on, but that is a problem for me too. i sleep with a lot of pillows!! but the pain in my butt too, well it all sucks, try seeing a phyiscal therapist. for pn pain.. My therpist was not listed on this site, but i called the ones that were and they helped me find the people that were closer to me and insurance covered! good luck with you! if the u cushion doesn't work, i got my pillow at brookstone for $50, and it has done its justice!

I have coccyx and major sit bone pain. In addition to feeling like I'm sitting on balls. My pain is bilateral. I' had my first visit with the pelvic floor therapist. Is it ok too go for medical massages with this pn issue.
Diagnosed myself with PN. Not sure if PN or PNE. Currently seeing a Pelvic Floor PT.
Was on Gabapentin now taking Cymbalta and Rabaxen Pain in Ischial Tuberosity and feeling like I'm sitting on a ball in Perineum. Pain is bilateral. Waiting for Specialist appt for nerve blocks.

Welcome, Ingride.
I've not heard of any restrictions on medical massages. Maybe it would be a good idea to ask the therapist not to be too rough, especially in the pelvic area, and if it causes increased pain, avoid it.

PNE since 2002. Started from weightlifting. PNE surgery from Dr. Bautrant, Oct 2004. Pain now is usually a 0 and I can sit for hours on certain chairs. No longer take medication for PNE. Can work full time and do "The Firm" exercise program. 99% cured from PGAD. PNE surgery was right for me but it might not be for you. Do your research.

Hello,
Try to contact some member from Australia and his name is Aussie or something like this. He had such thing. Tailbone is connected to Alacok canal. So your problem can come from there. Do not agree whatever you do get it cut. I read many horror stories about people who had even more pain after this. I agree that misalignment of pelvis can stretch you tailbone and make it less mobile. Had it myself. My PT actually told me that tailbone problems are secondary to pelvic misalignment in many cases. But it could irritate nerve.
You need to find yourself a good physiatrist specializing in misalignment and have consultation. And good PT to treat you.
Good luck,
Helen
