Upper Body Workout

Post by Lenny33 »

Hi, I left post yesterday asking if there is a link between lifting weights and PN. I was kindly pointed towards other weight lifting posts where it seems are pretty much against lifting weights. Confusing part is on part of this site in info section by Doctors it states Upper body workouts/weight lifting is actually recommended. Does this mean that only lower body works i.e squats etc are damaging or is it both lower & upper body training that should be avoided. I was told seperately that the abdominal pressure pushing down into pelvis when lifting can be prob. I would welcome your views. I really dont want to give up lifting but i suffer pain in anus each time i go to gym that becomes constant high pain for several days then returns to pain around 7/10 which is what it has been for years. Many Thanks, Len

Clenching pelvic floor muscles during lift is bad, whether you are doing upper or lower body.

Hi Lenny,
Just my two cents:

Apparently, this is a pain trigger for you. The pelvis is the core of your body, so whether you're working upper body or lower body - you're still engaging your core. It appears you've got a history (years) of cause and affect. If it were me, I would stop doing things I know will cause me more pain until I found out the reason why.
Kind regards,
Karyn
