Botox in QLD
Botox in QLD
Just wondering if anybody knows of any places in QLD that will do Botox injections into the pelvic floor? Mine is in constant spasm and am currently using 2.5mg Valium 3 times a day + tramadol for pain relief. I would really like to do without the brain fog effects of valium if possible......Unfortunately though i have to keep taking them otherwise the rectal pain just about bedriddens me.
Allan.
Re: Botox in QLD
What is QLD? Many regular pain doctors use botox plus many doctors that specialize in pelvic pain. Have you asked your pain specialist if they do botox injections and if not if they know anyone in your area that does. Otherwise, Dr. Hibner in Phoenix, AZ does botox to all the muscles of the pelvic floor under anesthesia. Dr. Leff in NYC uses botox to many of the muscles of the pelvis and they are done CT guided.

QLD is the state i live in....I have an appointment with my pain specialist on the 22nd Dec in Brisbane Australia so i will ask about it then. My pain is very much like a constant burning yet no fissure/rectal pathology has been found.

Pafen,
I notice you're a runner. Have you had your hips checked for labral tears?

Athlete until pain started in 2001. Diagnosed with PN in Nov. 2010. Probable cause: 3 difficult labors, 5 pelvic surgeries for endometriosis, and undiagnosed hip injuries. 60% better after 3 rounds of shockwave therapy in Cornwall, Ontario (Dec - Feb/12). 99% better after bilateral hip scopes for FAI and labral tears (April and July/12). Pelvic pain life coach Lorraine Faendrich helped me overcome the mind/body connection to chronic pain: http://www.radiantlifedesign.com

Hi Pafen
I would think most colorectal surgeons do botox proceedures. I had one done on the Gold Coast at the local John Flynn hospital--Dr White at the medical centre at the hospital. If you can find a CR surgeon nearby you could just ring and ask. Could be wrong but I got the impression it was fairly common procedure when they wanted to relax the muscles in the rectal area .
