Just had to share my news. My daughter who is a pharmacist has been accepted into Med. School. I've told her she MUST specialise in Pudendal Nerve Issues. She has gone through this with me for the past 8 years.
Be interesting to see exactly what she will be taught about PN if anything. Hopefully by the time she gets to that part she'll be teaching them a thing or two. Med. School in Western Australia is changing over the next year so she will commence studies in 2014.

2004 PNE following vag. hysterectomy and A & P repair. 2007 TIR surgery France. severe entrapment at Alcocks canal & SS ligaments . Have my life back. 90% cured.No longer have medical appts.or physio.Some pain remains but is tolerable. 2012 Flew from Australia to the UK without pain flare. Very manageable. Almost back to normal. Now hold support group meetings at KEMH Subiaco Perth WA. Every 2nd Sat. of the month. Still pace my activities. PN doesn't dominate any more.

Congratulations to your daughter, Catherine! You must be very proud and happy to know that she will be a physician who will advocate for PN patients. My son just started an orthopedic surgery residency and when he was in med-school he did a presentation to some of the attending physicians and residents on pudendal neuralgia. I don't know yet if he will specialize in PNE -- I think he is more interested in hand surgery but who knows? He may end up doing hips and if so I will definitely inform him about the recent evidence in the relationship between labral tears and PN.
The rigorous schedule these med-students and residents have to go through is really intense and it takes many years of hard work and sacrifice so your daughter is going to need your shoulder to lean on. Thankfully, you are well now and can give her the support she's going to need. Her background in pharmacy is going to be extremely helpful.

PNE since 2002. Started from weightlifting. PNE surgery from Dr. Bautrant, Oct 2004. Pain now is usually a 0 and I can sit for hours on certain chairs. No longer take medication for PNE. Can work full time and do "The Firm" exercise program. 99% cured from PGAD. PNE surgery was right for me but it might not be for you. Do your research.

Ultra Sound in 03/08 showed severely retroverted, detaching uterus with mulitple fibroids and ovarian cysts.
Pressure and pain in lower abdomen and groin area was unspeakable and devastating.
Total lap hysterectomy in 06/08, but damage was already done.
EMG testing in NH in 04/10 - bilateral PN and Ilioinguals
3T MRI at HSS, NY in 09/10
Bilateral TG surgery with Dr. Conway on 03/29/11. Bilat ilioinguinal & iliohypogastric neurectomy 03/12. TCD surgery 04/14.

Here in Sydney Australia, Prof. Vancaillie is now working with Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Loefler in the TG surgical release. A good combination of skilled surgeons.
