Way better than before surgery but it was a slow, difficult recovery. I was on lots of meds and spent most of the time lying down before surgery. Even lying down pain levels were high and I couldn't do much. Now I'm off meds and back to work sitting for hours at a time. But with that said, I think everyone should try conservative therapies first because surgery is not a guarantee.

PNE since 2002. Started from weightlifting. PNE surgery from Dr. Bautrant, Oct 2004. Pain now is usually a 0 and I can sit for hours on certain chairs. No longer take medication for PNE. Can work full time and do "The Firm" exercise program. 99% cured from PGAD. PNE surgery was right for me but it might not be for you. Do your research.
