Hi Violet! Been through many tests before the levator ani or tight pelvic floor was diagnosed....
Endoscopy etc.... but I don't know if they were looking for any specific or just trying to rule out cancer at the time. Bowel lining looked OK.
Have been tested for parasites, but I often wonder if I could have colitis, Chron's or IBD, although not every symptom fits.
Do you take topical meds...? What does this mean sorry? Is it something you apply to the area?
Do you also take anything to keep you stool soft, but that doesn't aggravate the stomach?

Yes, topical meds are something you apply to the area. Some people say nitroglycerin works well topically in the anal area. I've never tried it so I don't know. For keeping stools soft magnesium citrate tablets work the best for me along with a high fiber diet. I take 400 mg twice a day but you can adjust it to what works. They don't cause stomach problems for me but everyone is different.

PNE since 2002. Started from weightlifting. PNE surgery from Dr. Bautrant, Oct 2004. Pain now is usually a 0 and I can sit for hours on certain chairs. No longer take medication for PNE. Can work full time and do "The Firm" exercise program. 99% cured from PGAD. PNE surgery was right for me but it might not be for you. Do your research.

Your both right, you have subconsciously drawn your pelvic floor up for years and you do have nerve damage because of it. You have to reverse this subconscious behavior so your pelvic floor can go back to normal and give your nerves a hospitable environment to heal in. That's the bottom line. Spend some time, alot of time retraining your pelvic floor, if you don't things will never change. I have spend almost a year now retraining my pelvic floor and doing internal and external physical therapy and have seen some amazing improvement. I was in chronic pain for over 5 years so spending a year or two fixing myself is no big deal to me. Get proactive, there's no miracle surgery or nerve blocks that are going to cure you. You need to go through the treatment.tummydepressed wrote: To summarise, I have an extremely high pelvic floor. This has been shown through Biofeedback and on a proctogram. My doctors believe I have subconsciously drawn my pelvic floor up over the years, but I feel there is a good chance I have nerve damage.

Bobby, I'm glad that pelvic floor retraining has worked for you. It is definitely worth a try but unfortunately, it does not work for everyone. I think with pudendal neuralgia there is no treatment that you can point to that is a cure for everyone because there are different causes of PN.Bobby wrote: Get proactive, there's no miracle surgery or nerve blocks that are going to cure you.
