Chiroprator in woodbury mn that knows PN

Post by ritak »

I have not been on this site for some time. I have had PN since May 2011. Up until a few months ago I searched out on my own to find someone in my area that knew of PN. I saw a lot of PT's, Chiro's, CMT's, and Dr's. They all helped me some but they could only take me so far and not address the real issue at hand.
Two months ago I started seeing Dr Chad Beiler in Woodbury, MN Spine and Sport. He knows PN. After seeing him two months now we I am starting to get some relief from nerve pain. I have a long way to go. So if you are in the Twin Cities and are looking for a healthcare proffesional that knows of PN I would highly recommend him!!!

Hi RitaK,
Welcome to the forum, thanks for sharing. May I ask how is your chiro treating your PN, with adjustments, exercise? It sounds like he has had other PN patients?

thanks.

Hi Rita,
Welcome back! Congrats on finding a doctor who seems to understand your condition. As most of us know; it's not an easy feat to accomplish.

Is Dr. Beiler an Orthopeadic MD? What kind of treatment have you been getting from him?
Warm regards,
Karyn

Hi Karen,
Dr Chad Beiler is a Chiropractor. He does manual therapy, cold laser, and then starting some exercises with me.. His receptionist has had PN surgery. Yes he does know his stuff when it comes to PN. I am hopeful that in time I will be off all my meds. I know this will take time as it did not get this way overnight. I know i am getting better because a year ago the Vicdodin I took did not even touch the pain. I just recently went off the Gabapentin and I do feel more nerve pain now but I need to know what is working and what is not

Hi ritak,
I can understand your gabapentin reduction, even if you need to take the odd one now and again if it helps. Did you have any with drawl symptoms?

I did a similar thing after having botox. I just needed to know how/if it was working but had such a difficult time coming off the stuff.
Take care,
Helen

Hi Helen,
Yes I believe I am having difficulty coming off the Gabapentine. I have had a lot more nerve pain, like I am waking up from a long sleep so to speak. I also have had trouble sleeping which for me is common but it is even worse now. I am about almost aweek into not being on the Gabapentin so I figure it should be out of my system soon if not already. I am going to be talking with Chad today to see what he suggests I take for pain on the alternative side besides the Vicoden which I can only take at night. If I go beyond 2 or 3 of those in a day I start to get really edgy. I do not want to take the Gabapentin again. I usually get side effects from most medications since I have never taken many before this came up. I have had a really bad week and working at my job and keeping up my home gets very difficult to do during these times. I keep on trying though for the miracle to happen :)

I know how you feel, I really don't want to do gabapentin again either. I did take it for quite a while (2400 mg a day) and although the side effects were not great, I 'coped', thinking I had to. At the same time I am glad I tried it, well you just have to, don't you. . . but I would advise everyone to monitor and try to balance any good effect (% pain relief) against side effects and quality of life. I was SO thick with it!! Although my husband reckons he hasn't noticed a change
Good luck anyway :) I know that better pacing (post gabapentin) has worked well for me but then I don't work, so it's much, much easier.
Let me know when the miracle happens ;) and how you managed to be that deserving :D
Take care,
Helen
