Before PNE surgery I couldn't find a cushion that helped really. I used a roho cushion for a long time after surgery and it worked better than anything else but they are very expensive. Insurance paid for mine -- you have to get a prescription from your physician. They are rather bulky so I recommend ordering a small size so it can fit into chairs.

PNE since 2002. Started from weightlifting. PNE surgery from Dr. Bautrant, Oct 2004. Pain now is usually a 0 and I can sit for hours on certain chairs. No longer take medication for PNE. Can work full time and do "The Firm" exercise program. 99% cured from PGAD. PNE surgery was right for me but it might not be for you. Do your research.

Thanks for the info. Would you mind sharing the dealer/representative from whom you ordered the Roho cushion? I have Aetna PPO and am trying to get this approved. I don't believe they normally approve it for PN, but will try anyway. What insurance do you have? Any info would be REALLY helpful! Thanks!

I also have a roho which I got with a new wheelchair that blue cross blue shield paid 85%. I went through a PT at a rehab place and they worked with american medical equipment as the supplier. I then bought another out of pocket for my old wheelchair that I use at work to help complete my last 3.75 years to retirement. They also worked with my PN PT to ensure all would work for me. The wheelchair is because I havechronic foot pain as well. My roho is big to get the right number of air pockets across so I can lower the center section for the pudendal nerve and fit the chair.

Re: how to seat when you have PN and ishial tuberosity pain
I have a lot of ischial tuberosity pain. I've tried probably 15 cushions and the best thing for me has been a donut cushion ( it's an 18 inch) but using it in the long position (like a toilet seat). I actually have the cushion strapped with duck tape to a plastic toilet seat that I got at a home improvement store. I also cut away at the sides using a large kitchen knife so to take a little more pressure off my sit bones. My worst areas of pain are just medial (to the middle) of the ischial tuberosities in posterior alcock's canal. I am a slimmer person and this cushion keeps me mostly off my most tender areas allowing me to sit for very short periods of time (i.e. 20 mins max usually on a good day but that is with a pain level of 5-6, I try not to push it past 6) and I usually only sit a maximum of twice a day. Most days though I don't sit at all since I am now unable to work. If you are a visual person here is a link that may help you better understand what I'm talking about http://tinyurl.com/9obo2x3

Re: how to seat when you have PN and ishial tuberosity pain
I had United Health Care for the first cushion and Blue Cross Blue Shield for the 2nd. I had my doctor write a prescription and then found a local medical supply store (HME Specialists) who measures people for wheelchair cushions. They were contracted with my insurance and they ordered the cushion for me. The first one was 16 x 16 but it's too large to fit in most chairs so I got a smaller one the 2nd time - can't remember but I think it was 16 wide and 14 deep. The size would depend on your size and weight -- I'm fairly thin.westwing03 wrote: Would you mind sharing the dealer/representative from whom you ordered the Roho cushion? I made a modular cusion out of diffrnet density foam, get it fom any craft store, usinn diffrent sizes and shapes untill i got one that was firm around the outside edge and soft around the hot spots.
Try getting some memory foam to support the load bearing places.
I used a medium desity 1" square base and then spray glued it all together and covered it.
