Endoscopy

Post by marciaxy »

How much time should I request off for work for an endoscopy/colonoscopy? I received notice in the mail yesterday with my appointment for my endoscopy/colonoscopy. I have to prepare for it one day and then have the procedure the next day. And they are putting me to sleep for it. Should I just prepare for it while I'm at work and only take the day off the for procedure

You cannot possibly go through the prep procedure for colonoscopy whilst you are at work, you need to stay near a toilet.

Afterward the procedure, the sedation wears off very quickly and you are soon back to normal. I would suggest that you take two days off work, the prep day and the day of the procedure. When the hospital sends you the meds for the prep day, they usually also send an information pack, so you'll know more about it with regard to your particular circumstances then.
