Neurontin & Ativan

Post by Faith »

Just wondering those who take Neurontin for pain what daily dosage you are on and if you think it helps?

Has anyone tried Ativan? I'm a little scared of it to be honest. I have "central sensitization" and my doctor likes the way ativan works centrally (I haven't really looked into this well).
-11/08 vulvodynia began around conception of first & only pregnancy
-3/10 sacral/sitting pain began after SIJD manipulation
-Progressive widespread pain- central sensitization
-PT, meds, injections, botox, ESWT = debilitated.
-5/12 Potter MRI - scarring of left ST, coccygeous & posterior alcock
-12/12 - left FAI/labral hip tear surgery
2014-2019 managed w/ gabapentin, massage, and lifestyle mod
2020 - big flare up

Hi there,

I take 800mg Neurontin four times a day along with 25 mg Imipramine and 50 mg Tramadol. I definitely notice a difference that makes taking the Neurontin worth it. The imipramene is an antidepressant that has the effect of decreasing the "urgency" to pee feeling which I had like crazy. The Tramadol is for breakthrough pain. Lyrica worked much, much better for my pain, but I had side effects that prevent me from taking it.

This whole medication maze is really alot to get through and figure out especially since everyone seems to react differently. I hope you find the right ones for you quickly!!

Blessings,
Grace

Faith, I've read you have to get up to 1800 mg of neurontin a day for it to really make a difference. I was never able to get up to that dose due to the side effects.

I haven't taken ativan but took a closely related drug called klonopin (clonazepam). It was a God-send in that it allowed me to sleep a little bit.

There is some trial and error in figuring out which drugs work for you -- we are all so different. Good luck as you figure this out.
PNE since 2002. Started from weightlifting. PNE surgery from Dr. Bautrant, Oct 2004. Pain now is usually a 0 and I can sit for hours on certain chairs. No longer take medication for PNE. Can work full time and do "The Firm" exercise program. 99% cured from PGAD. PNE surgery was right for me but it might not be for you. Do your research.
