Harshness

Here is a place for social chats with special attention to support and non medical discussions. We need a place to chill out, where we can distract from our pain and enjoy lighter moments, share a joke or funny moment with others.

Re: Harshness

The immediate question is how does one cope with having to live in the same house with a bitter ex? I don't think most people could live under those conditions very well. I assume you are living in an environment of constant tension.

I understand that there are wider philosophical underpinnings to the question, but I think in the short term your well being demands that you be removed from this situation if at all possible. Is there any chance of selling the house; or of one of you renting their stake in the home to a tenant who is approved as a roommate by the other; or undergo legal negotiations like a divorcing couple for one to buy out the other's stake in the home; or any other recourse to get out of these living conditions?

I would look at the practical first. Dealing with harshness in general is a function of introspection and spiritual growth. When you are in acute emotional distress that's a lot to ask. You should not be living under the same roof with an ex. If the two of you already have a plan to get yourselves out of cohabitation (?) maybe one of you could stay with a friend or relative until those arrangements are complete.
pelvic pain started 1985 age 14 interstitial cystitis. Refused medical care from age 17, did GREAT with self care for years.
2004 PN started gradually, disabled by 2009. Underlying cause SIJD & Tarlov cysts
improved with PT & meds: neurontin, valium, nortriptyline, propanolol. (off nortriptyline & propanolol now, yay!)
Tarlov cyst surgery with Dr. Frank Feigenbaum March 20, 2012.
Results have been excellent so far; but I won't know my final functional level for a couple of years.
