Hi,
Ever since my surgery with Dr. Filler, I have had trouble walking, where my right labia clamps up and causes pudendal pain... even when walking super slowly. After my surgery with Dr. Bautrant, I had a few months of pain free walking, then it all came back. (Maybe I just didn't feel it cause of the pain meds I was on.)
Today I took my daughter to disneyland and every step hurt in my labia on right and left sides... this is more than usual. I just came back from a plane trip a few days ago... so I'm flared up.
I feel like I am so weak, I have to walk so slowly. Waddling like a pregnant lady about to give birth. But I can run just fine. Pushing strollers or shopping carts makes it worse. Going uphill is really hard... like maybe my hamstrings are super weak.
What is up with this!!??
Anyone else in the same boat?
(is this just from years of laying around and standing?) I don't like this one bit... maybe time to visit my PT.

Re: walking troubles
For what its worth, pushing shopping carts, vacuuming, and walking up hill all cause me the same type of pain. Not sure why but it always does.

I have the exact same thing. I also feel that the burning came back after I stopped taking so many pain pills.
It turned out that 4 of the five joints in my pelvis were off.
My SI joints (the 2 at the base of the spine) were twisted up and my left hip was pushed forward and was also tilted outward.
After PT worked on that I asked was finally healed enough for her to check my pubic joint (the one in your pubic bone). I didn't even know there was a joint there until last week.
My pubic joint is way off. When PT aligns it the burning in my left labia and the front of my pubic bone goes away.
When I walk or move, the burning comes back so I tend to hold very still. Moving for 5 - 10 minutes makes the burning to painful.
Pianogal. Have you tried putting a balloon filled with water or gel in your underwear?
The internal ice-packs I use work wonderful. I don't freeze them and I place them in my underwear on my left labia to keep it from rubbing on my underwear or anything else.
I also use lidocaine before I put the ice-pack in my underwear.
I'm saying ice-pack, but you can put them in the fridge for a cool pack or just use them at room temp. Whatever you prefer.
I agree that PT may be able to check your joints. Aligning my pelvic joints stopped the burning within 48 hours.
Good luck.

Re: walking troubles
If it happens with walking not running, this can be a hint that it is a gait pattern issue. People run in different patterns but often will land on the balls of their feet hence avoiding heel strike - this is just an example of how difference in gait pattern can lead to more or less comfort up the kinetic chain. You might be able to solve your problem by experimenting with the various typs of shoe inserts, gel heel cusions, arches, and orthotics on the market. Personally I have Morton's Toe (short 1st metatarsal) and am more symptomatic if I stand and walk without a toe pad correction for this. You can easily evaluate yourself to see if you have this particular problem, using the info on this page: http://whyyoureallyhurt.com/home/#tp
pelvic pain started 1985 age 14 interstitial cystitis. Refused medical care from age 17, did GREAT with self care for years.
2004 PN started gradually, disabled by 2009. Underlying cause SIJD & Tarlov cysts
improved with PT & meds: neurontin, valium, nortriptyline, propanolol. (off nortriptyline & propanolol now, yay!)
Tarlov cyst surgery with Dr. Frank Feigenbaum March 20, 2012.
Results have been excellent so far; but I won't know my final functional level for a couple of years.

Re: walking troubles
It wouldn't be labia pain I doubt, but pain walking up hill and weak (well more like heavy legs) could be associated with piriformis syndrome. The pain is in the bum though.

Diagnosed with complex variant piriformis syndrome with sciatic, pudendal and gluteal entrapment's by Dr Filler 2010.Guided piriformis botox injection 2011 Bristol. 2013, Nerve conduction test positive; new spinal MRI scan negative, so diagnosed for the 4th time with pelvic nerve entrapment, now recognised as Sciatic, pudendal, PFCN and cluneal nerves at piriformis level.
Re: walking troubles
Pain in my left labia gets much worse with walking at any speed.
My PT is adjusting my pelvic joints and each time they flare up for a day or so and then the pain gets much better.
PT has to do small adjustments since my muscles are too weak to hold them so every week is just more pain and adjustments until my muscles are strong enough to hold my pelvis correctly.
I pray that that will make the burning go away again.
The burning was gone and as we started working on aligning the pelvis it has come back as my muscles are trying to get used to the correct way to be.
This is hard, painful and upsetting since I feel like I'm going backwards even though my docs say my strength and alignment is better each week.
I wish I could have a break from this to regroup, but this is an endless fight.
Good luck to all of you
