Feeling sad and lonely

Here is a place for social chats with special attention to support and non medical discussions. We need a place to chill out, where we can distract from our pain and enjoy lighter moments, share a joke or funny moment with others.

Hi Sunil,

I havent' been on here much lately but I happened to be scanning the board because I'm up early, not quite 4am over here.

I am glad I happened to find this, just to offer my heartfelt condolences and support.

You seem to have a very good handle on what the problems were that led up to this, and it sounds like you are doing the best you can with the situation. So no words of wisdom or anything, I am just sorry your relationship is struggling :(

When you are feeling low and lonely, you know you have friends on here to PM, I for one would be happy to hear from you anytime.

Take care and I hope you can work this out.
pelvic pain started 1985 age 14 interstitial cystitis. Refused medical care from age 17, did GREAT with self care for years.
2004 PN started gradually, disabled by 2009. Underlying cause SIJD & Tarlov cysts
improved with PT & meds: neurontin, valium, nortriptyline, propanolol. (off nortriptyline & propanolol now, yay!)
Tarlov cyst surgery with Dr. Frank Feigenbaum March 20, 2012.
Results have been excellent so far; but I won't know my final functional level for a couple of years.

Sorry to hear that you are having extra emotional worries Sunil. I hope you can work things out too.I know you have had some success with your treatment, maybe you can turn the corner for your partner now? ? Try to hang on to a good friendship with this special person.

Oh, Sunil....what more could you have done? When you have chronic pain, it completely consumes you. It has happened to all of us when we are at our worse states. It is very hard on the partner, yes. My husband and I are in marriage counseling and discussing this very topic later today, so if I get some words of advice, I will pass them on to you.

I think you can look back and say "I did the best I could in the moment I was in" and that's all we can do.

I'm sorry you are sad. As you know from PN, there is always a grieving process to go through after a loss. I wish I could give you a big hug and tell you everything will someday be OK. We have to believe this.

Sunil, I think the fact that society doesn't help people to end their lives shows how much we value human life, even those who have medical problems. I work with medically fragile children who have illnesses that are as devastating as PNE (some of them may be more devastating) but they are loved by their families and caretakers despite their weaknesses.

Your value as a human being is not measured by whether or not you can have sex or whether you are in pain. If your partner cannot see that, then there is a flaw in her character, not in yours. You cannot control someone else's behavior but you can control your own and I applaud you for loving unconditionally even if she cannot. She is probably suffering from a different kind of pain and just is not able to handle it.

You have so much to offer -- the advice and encouragement you have given to others on this forum are invaluable. Please continue to fight and help other people who are struggling as you are.

PNE since 2002. Started from weightlifting. PNE surgery from Dr. Bautrant, Oct 2004. Pain now is usually a 0 and I can sit for hours on certain chairs. No longer take medication for PNE. Can work full time and do "The Firm" exercise program. 99% cured from PGAD. PNE surgery was right for me but it might not be for you. Do your research.
