PNE made worse from foods???

Post by REV800X »

I did a search but could not find anything on this so thought I would post a question. One thing that has me confused is I can't find the correlation between foods and PN. Dr. Antolak said it could easily be, but I'm not so sure from what I have read.

For me, if I have minimal or even a high amount of pain in the prostate / perineum area, and if I have a cup of coffee, chocolate candy bar, the pain will skyrocket within 10 minutes. It is the same pain that I have all the time, only much worse. Or if I have no pain it will just take off.

So my question is are there other people with PN that food items that have caffine for instance will make your PN pain much worse? I have always thought it may be more IC, but haven't had that test or diagnosis yet. Thanks!

Below is a link to a website of a dr. that specializes in CRPS/RSD and has dietary recommendations. About 2/3 down the page he has an interesting but short discussion on coffee. I have not researched the science behind his statements nevertheless, food for thought.

Thanks, I guess I am just trying to problem solve, and am questioning the PN diagnosis as related to food issues and other things that make the pain worse.

I've only been facing serious issues with suspected PNE for the past 4 months, but looking back I've always had a dodgy pelvic floor.

Last year I went on a lad's holiday where I was drinking heavily for 7 days, starting on the plane! I had a burning feeling in my perineum, rectum and general crotch area.

So binge drinking for days on end was bad. But I got better once I got home. My current issues however will need lots of rest and proper treatment.

I would say stay away from heavy amounts of alcohol.

Interesting book Neal Barnard " foods that fight pain"
Not PNE specific but does mention other nerve problems & inflammation
Got a 2nd hand copy on amazon for 80p !
Have had 3 nerve blocks and am nearly pain free !

I have found that spicy foods, coffee, alcohol, and smoking anything causes instant pain for me. Oh and inn n' out... Unfortunately cause I freaking love those burgers. Coffee especially though, I would avoid it.
