Dr Fillers neurography scan in London

Post by helenlegs 11 »

From the neurography institute's newsletter : Dont get too excited you don't know the cost yet :) !

The Neurography Institute continues to add new authorized, licensed Nerve Scan Centers at a rapid pace, to accommodate the growing demand for genuine MR Neurography scans across the United States.

New USA-based facilities coming on line include Omaha, Nebraska (October 2011); St. Louis, Missouri (November 2011); and Miami, Florida (November 2011).

But our biggest news is the grand opening of a licensed Nerve Scan Center of The Neurography Institute in London, England, in November.

Patients and physicians alike from across the United Kingdom and continental Europe have been asking The Neurography Institute to open a facility that's a shorter travel distance for their patients who are suffering from nerve-related pain conditions.

Our answer is a new facility in London. We will have more details as we near our launch date.

Thanks to all referring physicians who are helping build MR Neurography alongside The Neurography Institute.
Fall 2008. Misdiagnosed with lumber spine problem. MRN June 2010 indicated pudendal entrapment at Alcocks canal. Diagnosed with complex variant piriformis syndrome with sciatic, pudendal and gluteal entrapment's by Dr Filler 2010.Guided piriformis botox injection 2011 Bristol. 2013, Nerve conduction test positive; new spinal MRI scan negative, so diagnosed for the 4th time with pelvic nerve entrapment, now recognised as Sciatic, pudendal, PFCN and cluneal nerves at piriformis level.

Oooh, somewhere in the UK to go for an MRN? Wow! But what IS the cost :(
PN, possible entrapment at ischial spine -Dr.Natasha Curran, National Hospital for Neurology, London.
2 -Xray guided double nerve blocks -Dr.Baranowski - no relief.
TP self-massage reduced piriformis pressure on p nerve.
Dr.Greenslade/Bristol:
CT guided block (left) 16.7.12- success! Could sit without a cushion! On a brick wall!
06/2/13 - Sit pain gradually returned, L3. Offered further CT-guided block, or an op. Had to decline at time.
Feb '15. Applying to be referred again to Dr G.

I was sure I had seen a costing from 'nervemed' for scans in America but I can't find it, sorry ! I know it's not cheap, but then I think that's expected.

I don't know whether this uses a 3T MRI? - but I noticed that there is a 3T machine at Frenchay. Sign in the corridor on the way to the admission ward....

Do I have it right - an MRN is an MRI using special software to make the nerves more visible?

As far as I can make out that is right, but it seems it's the software and radiologist (everything together in fact) are important too. Dr G did mention that they had a good scanner but that was it no mention of any use of it. Dr Fillers technology makes use of the water content of nerves http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MR_Neurography but then it all gets far too complicated :)
I wonder if this will allow Dr Filler to do some procedures in London now as I have read that he uses MRN for blocks, rather that ultra sound.
I know he is expensive but I have also heard that the cost can be negotiated, I can't think that any BUPA or other cover will be applicable. Worth asking tho'.
